Perfect Fit(98)
“You’re not supposed to kiss me until after we’re married,” I teased.
“I’ve never been one to follow the rules too closely.” Miller leaned closer so that only I could hear what he had to say. It wouldn’t have mattered, because the kids were impatiently walking to the double doors that we needed to walk through to enter the church. “We don’t have a pool so therefore we don’t have a pool boy to run away with to Cabo.”
“I didn’t say it was our pool boy,” I corrected him. “I said it was a pool boy. Several of our neighbors have pools and you might’ve run off with one of their pool boys.” It was the oddest conversation to have before we said our vows to commit ourselves to one another in front of our friends and family. But, when had we ever done things the normal way? Never! We marched to our own beat and ignored anyone who didn’t approve. What we had worked for us and that was all that mattered. “I love you, Bones. I can’t wait to make you mine.”
“Wait! I’m going to make you mine,” he counted.
I reached into my pocket and pulled out a quarter. “Want to flip for it?”
The End!
