Love My Pain (Cape Falls Book 6)(7)

“You don’t need to go into detail. I imagine the work you’ll be doing will be far away from this area of the club.”

“That stuff in your basement.”

“My dungeon.”

“Huh?”

“It’s what I call it. It’s a dungeon. A pleasure and pain dungeon.”

“Oh.”

“What about it?”

“You’re a Dominant that likes control.”

“Yes.”

“Have you ever used any of those … pieces on a woman? A man?”

“I’m not gay, Isabel. I like women. I love women, and their beautiful forms. I’ve never used that equipment on anyone. In fact, you were the first person I tied to the cross as well, and I only did that because I didn’t know how best to protect you. Everything in that room is brand new.”

“You will want to use that stuff though? On a submissive one day?” How would she cope if he brought another woman home? Not that it was any of her business, but the very thought hurt her so much.

“Let’s not talk about that, shall we?”

He took several steps, and Isabel couldn’t help locking her fingers together, rubbing her hands, panicking. She liked Edward. Really liked him.

“What’s the matter?” he asked.

When she didn’t answer him right away, he moved up to her, cupping her face. “What’s the matter?” He asked the same question again, and all she could do was feel her eyes fill with tears. She didn’t want to cry, and she couldn’t stop it.

“I don’t want you to have another woman.”

His thumb caressed her chin. “Isabel, you don’t have to worry about this.”

“What about if I tried to be your submissive?” she said.

He frowned. “You don’t have to worry.”

“But I do worry, and I can’t stand the thought of another woman being there, being what you need.” She didn’t understand what was happening with her. “I could do this for you. I want to do this for you.”

Edward still held her face, and she stared into his eyes, waiting. His eyes were green. She had never noticed that before. Shockingly green, and like so many times before, they captivated her. His messy blond hair was tight back against his head, and she knew he was a handsome, sexy man. Any woman would want him. With his very British accent, it made him even more tempting. She had seen a lot of women when she was waitressing at the diner swoon over him.

If it wasn’t his accent, or his sexiness, then it was the curiosity that everyone had about Control, and his place in Cape Falls. Everyone had to have a place. For as long as she could remember, Cape Falls didn’t like anyone else in their town. Only locals were allowed, and they would make sure to drive out anyone else. It was strange when Gabriel Anderson came to town, and got the job as Sheriff. For the first time in Cape Falls’ long history, an outsider was allowed into town.

Of course when he was dating and then marrying Amy Grant, a woman who had previously been physically abused by her former husband, many locals tried to make his life hard.

Cape Falls was a shitty town. She hated it here. If she could have, she would have left long ago, like her parents before her. As it was, they had left her with Sophie, and now there was no way out for her.

You don’t want to leave.

You’ve got Edward.

She wanted to be everything he wanted, and something more. Could it even be possible for her to find that something special with him?

“Sweetie, I don’t need to have a submissive. I’m training them here, and I oversee a lot of work. You don’t need to do shit like this for me.”

Covering his hands on her face, she stared right into those green eyes. “Is it because of the cutting?”

She watched as his jaw grew tense.

“Do you think I’m a freak?”

“No!” He glared at her. “What you’re asking isn’t something you give on a whim, Isabel. Being in a submissive lifestyle, it demands trust, and openness. I need to know that you will tell me, and use safe words when I push too far, and I will. This isn’t just about being a play toy. It’s so much more.”

He pulled his hands away, and tears flooded her eyes. “There is no other woman in my life.”

“Until a submissive you play with takes that place.”

Edward sighed, and she watched as he rubbed his eyes. This was not what she wanted. She didn’t want to become a problem, and yet she couldn’t stop it. What if he got rid of her? What if he no longer wanted her?

Suddenly, he cupped her face and pressed her against the door.

“What—” She didn’t get time to say anything more as his lips slammed against hers. She cupped his shoulders, not to push him away, but to hold him closer. She didn’t want to let him go.
