Fighting the Call of the Wolf(7)
“You don’t want to be with me and you don’t want anything to do with me. You told me yourself the last time we were together. You’re straight. You want to find a female mate. Why would you want me and the pup around reminding everyone that you once slept with a man?”
And it had been the single best night of Kyle’s life. He was pretty sure the scent he was giving off was stronger just because he couldn’t stop staring at Aelius’s mouth and thinking about the last time they’d kissed each other.
Aelius had kissed and touched him as if Kyle was the greatest gift he could ever have. Kyle had almost let himself believe it, at the time, and his cock thickened and swelled between his legs.
At least he was already giving off the lust pheromones, so it wasn’t like there was anything more he could be embarrassed about. Kyle just made sure to keep his legs crossed and his body turned at an angle so that his hard-on wouldn’t be too obvious between his legs.
“I never said I didn’t want anything to do with you,” Aelius said.
“Fine, not in those exact words, but when it was done and over with, you said you couldn’t have a relationship with me. You told me you like women. You don’t like men. I got scared, okay? I panicked and kept it to myself, and it was like I blinked and five months went by.”
Kyle couldn’t look at the man. He had to cross his arms and purposely stare at the opposite wall because just looking in Aelius’s direction was enough to give him a mild panic attack.
Kyle’s chest rose and fell as he struggled to suck some air into his lungs, but it never seemed to be enough. He hated this. He hated having this awkward conversation with a man who wanted nothing to do with him, but was angry with him because Kyle had stayed away.
But Aelius wouldn’t have been angry if there wasn’t a pup involved. The only reason why he was here was for the pup, not for Kyle, and it was breaking his heart all over again, just like it had the day they’d slept together, and then Aelius left.
“Kyle, hey,” Aelius said softly. Kyle jumped when he felt the man’s hands on his.
Aelius was no longer across the room, he was now kneeling next to Kyle’s bed, just on the side of him, and he was looking up into Kyle’s face like he wanted to comfort him.
“Relax, okay? Breathe. Everything’s going to be fine. I’ll take care of you.”
Kyle shook his head. “I don’t…I don’t…” He couldn’t even get the damn words out. He didn’t want Aelius to take care of him. He wanted the man to love him, to mate with him, and to share a life with him.
“Kyle, shhh, you’re going to make yourself sick,” Aelius said, and his hand was on the back of Kyle’s head.
Now Kyle couldn’t look away from him. Aelius’s touch was keeping him focused, even if he was still gasping for breath like he had asthma or something.
Aelius leaned up and forward. Kyle wasn’t sure what the intent was until it happened, and his breath caught in his throat when Aelius pressed their mouths together.
Kyle’s eyes popped wide open. Even with their mouths mashed together, he could hardly believe what was happening. Aelius was kissing him? The alpha had a tight grip on the back of his head, and his eyes were firmly shut, as if he didn’t want to look at what he was doing, and that made Kyle’s heart ache. It saddened him so fucking much, but he wanted this too badly. He’d wanted it the first time he and Aelius touched and kissed each other, and he wanted it now.
And it sickened him that he was having such selfish thoughts. He pushed Aelius back. It was hard, however, trying to separate himself from an alpha, and all he ended up doing was separating their mouths and little else.
“What’s wrong?” Aelius asked.
Fuck, his panting voice was so damned sexy. He sounded like lust, if lust had a voice, and it was enough to make Kyle’s already-throbbing cock pulse harder. He might’ve even come a little.
“Tell me you’re not just doing this because of the mating scents I’m giving off,” Kyle said.
“Do I look like the kind of alpha that can’t keep his dick in his pants?” Aelius asked.
Kyle wasn’t so sure about that. Aelius hadn’t been able to control himself the last time, and neither had Kyle, and then they hadn’t seen each other again for five months.
Kyle wasn’t about to mention that, however. He didn’t want to make Aelius so angry that he left, and God help him, but Kyle was already past the point of no return. He wanted this. Aelius was kissing him and offering it, and Kyle wanted it.
He thrust his fingers into Aelius’s long blond hair and pulled the man’s mouth forward for another rough and biting kiss that would leave him with bruises later on, he was sure. He didn’t care. He just wanted to forget about everything else and feel.
