Fighting the Call of the Wolf(10)
“I want to be with you. I love you,” Kyle said, but he shook his head and wiped the moisture out of his eyes. “But I don’t want you to mate with me and pretend that this is what you want because we’re about to have a pup together.”
That was what Kyle was worried about? Aelius couldn’t help the gleeful emotions that were rushing through him. “I’m not doing this because I think I have to do it,” he said. “I really want this. I want to be your alpha.”
Again, Kyle’s reaction was not what he was hoping for, and he shook his head again. “You’re telling me that in the ten minutes we’ve been in here, fucking each other, that you suddenly had an epiphany and changed your mind?”
“You don’t believe me?”
“Of course I don’t,” Kyle said.
That stung, it really did, but even though Aelius was hurting over the rejection, he was still with it enough to know that he couldn’t blame Kyle for this, not after what he’d done. He’d used the man the last time they were together, fucking him just in the hopes that he would satisfy his lust and then be able to move on to something different, and Kyle had been the one to pay the price for that.
But despite how much of an asshole Aelius was, Kyle still, miraculously, wanted him.
“I’m going to prove it to you that I’m serious,” Aelius said. “I don’t know how I’m going to do it, but I’m going to do it. You’ll see.”
“You said it yourself that you’re not gay,” Kyle said. “I don’t want to try this, just to wake up one day and have you leave again. I couldn’t take that happening again.”
“And it won’t happen again,” Aelius said. “This isn’t something I’m doing because I feel guilty, or a sense of duty to you or the pup. I know what I want, and it’s this, it’s you, but I don’t expect you to believe me anyway. So we’ll take this slow. I’m not going to rush you either. There is no rush because I’m not going anywhere.”
“But you’re not—”
“No, I’m not, clearly, but the fact that I’m naked and in bed with you means that I am bisexual at the very least, and I’m ready to roll with that if it means I get to keep you.”
Aelius pressed a kiss to Kyle’s mouth before he got to his feet. He clearly wasn’t going to spend the night in this bed, which was a shame, but at the same time, he was looking forward to wooing his mate. He liked a challenge.
“I’ll head over to my room now. You and I are going to have a lot of things to do tomorrow.”
“We are?” Kyle asked, and there was an innocent sort of confusion in his eyes that Aelius thought was adorable. The only man in the world that Aelius had ever thought of being adorable was the one he was looking at right now. That meant something.
“Yup,” Aelius said, and he reached for his clothes and began to dress himself. “Because tomorrow I’m taking you out on a date.”
Chapter Six
Three weeks had passed by with Aelius in the house, and still Kyle was having his doubts. It was true that he’d grown closer to the man, enjoyed the dinners and movies that Aelius took him to, or even the quiet moments they spent together in the house.
Because Kyle lived in such a big mansion with so many other people around him, it was hard to get any alone time with Aelius when they were in the living room, or kitchen, or anywhere that wasn’t his bedroom, but even when they were alone, Aelius didn’t do more than press the softest, sweetest kisses to Kyle’s mouth before wishing him good night.
They’d done those sorts of innocent kisses after looking through the catalogue of baby items they would be needing, or even when Kyle came downstairs for the morning.
They didn’t share a room, and otherwise Aelius didn’t touch him. Not sexually at least, and it was starting to drive Kyle up the wall.
He was so fucked. He couldn’t make his mind up about anything, and soon enough his pup was going to be here, and then there was going to be no time at all for either of them to be alone romantically.
But Kyle had to remind himself that he was the one who decided to take it slow. Sort of. He’d wanted to break it off. The bite that Aelius had given him had scarred over, and now it was obvious to everyone who looked at his neck and shoulder if Kyle didn’t wear a turtleneck.
The rest of the pack had been happy, at first, when they’d seen the scar, but then Kyle had to explain the awkward situation he’d found himself in now.
He didn’t want an alpha who didn’t want him to mate with him just because he thought he had to. Kyle was sticking by that decision. It was the right one, and no one was going to tell him otherwise. But he did have that scar now, and it was a constant reminder of Aelius’s teeth in his skin, of the way the man’s cock had felt inside of him, how warm and hot his body had been as he slammed forward and back, fucking Kyle like he didn’t want anyone else to be in his bed ever again.
