Broken Rider(27)
“You’re making me blush,” Erin squeaked. She realized how silly she looked, blushing like a teenager while the man she loves explains his love for another woman, but Erin never much cared for how things appeared to an outsider. She knew deep in her heart that Jack Riggans was a good man, no more than that, a great man, and if he had truly began the process of moving on with his life, she was glad to have him. If he was moving on, which was of course the million-dollar question. Erin took a deep breath and decided to broach the subject. “Jack, I know you love Sarah, but I have to ask you, are you ready to move on from her? Because if you were, I would love for you be a part of my life. If you aren’t, however, then I think it’s best for both of us if you just go your own way.”
Jack took her by the shoulders and squared Erin up so she was looking directly in his eyes. “I wasn’t sure of the answer to the question,” he said, “until I went and visited Sarah’s grave. I sat by that tombstone and talked to her for hours, and no answer came to me. I talked for so long, about my love for her, and my feelings for you, and everything in-between. I told her how you are renovating this cabin into a bed and breakfast, because she would have loved that idea. Anyway, eventually I fell asleep and when I awoke the next morning the first person I thought of was you. Now I know that sounds hokey, but Sarah has always been the first thing on my mind in the morning, ever since I met her.”
Erin watched as Jack’s eyes welled up and he continued on. “So I took that as a sign, a very strong sign indeed, and said my goodbyes to Sarah. Whether you’ll have me or not is in your hands, but I have decided to move on. Sarah would kill me if she saw the type of lonely life I’d been leading since she passed. She would want me happy, of that much I’m sure, and you make me feel that way. I’m in love with you Erin and I hope you will give me another chance.”
Erin was speechless. Never in her life had a man said such heartfelt things to her and she didn’t know how to react. On the one hand she loved Jack, but on the other hand that was precisely the problem. When you loved another person, you are letting them rent a piece of your heart and that can be dangerous. Especially once a man has shown a proclivity to break your heart already. So she pondered Jack’s question and he must have taken that as a negative sign as he nodded his hand and turned to walk away. Erin stood paralyzed and watched as he left before regaining her senses and calling out to him. “Jack, wait!”
He turned around and Erin ran into his arms. “You promise to never hurt me again?”
“I give you my word, baby girl.”

Erin awoke the next morning to an empty bed, again. Just as she was about to panic, however, she smelled bacon frying and smiled. Not only had her man not run off in the night, but also he was cooking her breakfast. She hurried out of bed but slowed her pace when the soreness from the previous night began to set in. Jack had really worked her good, not that she was complaining. On the contrary, she begged for the pain last night, after the two had made love that is. Once she felt secure with herself—and with Jack—Erin felt comfortable telling him what she wanted in bed, and last night she wanted to be fucked, hard. Jack didn’t need much convincing and had bent her over the nightstand and railed on her as he calloused hands squeezed her throat. Erin didn’t expect him to be as rough as he was, but she found the experience quite pleasurable and was looking forward to an encore performance. Of course she was paying the price this morning, as her pussy was sore as hell.
She dressed and headed downstairs. Jack had already set a place at the table for her and when she sat he brought over a plate of bacon and eggs and poured her a fresh glass of juice. “Good morning baby,” Jack said and kissed her atop the forehead. After being drilled by him last night, Erin was surprised to see how tender he was in the morning. It was like a tale of two men, two perfect men. “Good morning Jack, how did you sleep?”
Jack smiled and sat across the table from her. “You know very well how I slept, baby. You put daddy to bed last night.” Erin blushed. When Jack was fucking her from behind the previous night, she’d screamed out “harder daddy!” and apparently Jack had heard her.
“Well I’m really sore from last night,” Erin said. “You really put a walloping on my ass.”
“You asked for it,” Jack said through a smile. “Do you want me to be more gentle next time?”
“No, it was perfect!” The last thing Erin wanted him to do was back off on her. If anything she wanted it harder. Jack Riggans had awoken a beast inside her, and it was still hungry.
