                “Thank you,” she said, but she wouldn’t meet his eyes.

                “Look at me, Grace.” He curled a finger under her chin and lifted. “I can’t stop life from happening. What I can do, though, is make you this promise. Every breath I take, every beat of my heart, from now until the end, will be for you.”

                She smiled. “Prince Charming’s got nothing on you.”

                “Hell, no.” He leaned down and kissed her, owning her just as much as he was owned by her. “Never forget it.”

                “Give me a lifetime to remember and you’ve got yourself a deal.”

                He lowered his mouth to hers. “When does our lifetime officially start?”

                The cheers of those around them almost drowned out her response.

                “It starts now.”
