Unchain My Heart(78)
“Did you now?” I asked, amused that she still believed that. Who were we fooling? Resistance was futile. In reality it was only a matter of time before I was the one howling at her front door, begging her to let me in.
“Yes. And we still need to have that conversation. You have a hell of a lot of explaining to do. I still hate you.”
“You hate me but you love my cock. . . and my mouth . . . and my hands.”
Her chin rested on my chest as she gazed at me through her thick lashes. “A woman has needs too. And I can use your equipment just as you used me.”
I gaped at her. “You think I used you?”
“Of course you did. Got what you wanted and never called or came back.” She wasn’t accusatory or going psycho-bitch on me, she was just stating a fact. I liked that about her.
I stroked her hair and we lay there for a few moments as I digested what she’d said. I could see how she believed that. If only she knew how far from the truth it was. I decided to come clean. Fuck knows, I'd screwed up so badly lately, maybe it was time I did things differently.
I cleared my throat. I wasn’t used to sharing my feelings. This was way out of my comfort zone. But if I wanted to see Eva again, I had to put her mind at ease. Now that I’d broken my rule, I was eager to take this somewhere.
“Eva, we don’t really know one another that well. But I’d really like the chance to see you again . . . take you on a date, or something. God knows, I haven’t done that since I was seventeen, so my skills are somewhat rusty. But I want to try, if it's okay with you?”
“That’s what’s so weird about it. For the short amount of time we’ve known one another, we’ve had sex twice now. Who knows if we’ll really like one another if we get better acquainted?”
Typical woman; she was overanalyzing this already. “I know everything there is to know about you.” I chuckled. “And I like you already.” Fuck, I wasn’t asking her to marry me; I just wanted to see her again. If that meant taking her to dinner or a movie, I was fine with that too, as long as I got to fuck her as well.
“You can take me to dinner tomorrow night. Be prepared to answer questions, though. I want to hear your side of the story. And it better be good.”
I closed my eyes and sighed. She wouldn’t let me off the hook lightly. But I was ready to tell her everything. It was time.
She pushed up from the sofa and picked up her clothing. The shape of her curvy body had my dick hardening again.
“What are you doing?” In the few seconds since she’d left my side I felt the cold creep back under my skin and into my heart. I wanted her warmth against me.
“I'm going home, of course. It's late, we both have work tomor . . . later this morning,” she said matter-of-factly. Usually women begged me to let them stay, and I was the one who kicked them out. Karma was teaching me a lesson.
“Eva, stay. It's too late to drive home now.”
She slipped the chemise over her head. “Don’t be silly. It's only a fifteen-minute trip.”
I rose from the sofa, desperate for her not to go. Within three strides, I reached her and pulled her into my arms. “That’s better,” I murmured into her hair as her breasts squashed against me and her perfume filled my nostrils.
She placed her arms around my neck and reached up to kiss me. I kissed her, long and hard, till we both were breathless. She pulled away, looking up at me. “Goodnight, Harrison.”
“You’re leaving me?” I pouted like a four-year-old.
Her voice was soft but firm. “Yes. Until we’ve had the discussion I came here for—adult to adult—I . . .”
“You still hate me.”
I got that she needed to make her point and stand her ground, but fuck, I needed to find a way to make her stay. Not only tonight, but every other night.
“You’re killing me here. You know that, right?” I folded my arms across my chest as she slipped into her coat and stuffed the panties into her pocket.
“Harrison, if you really want me, prove it. Show me with actions, not just empty words. Up until tonight you’ve avoided me as if I had the plague. Then you fuck me and beg me to stay. Who knows if you’ll go back into your shell again and I won’t hear or see from you for weeks?”
“You know I’m Cancer?” I asked, bewildered.
“From all that I said, that’s what you got out of it?” She laughed, shaking her head as she moved to the hallway to leave.
Eva Ryder knew what she wanted, and how to get it. It made her more desirable. I followed her to the door, wishing she would change her mind.
“I could force you to stay. I could tie you to my bed and have my way with you all night long.” I stuck my hand into her pocket and retrieved the thong. I was keeping that under my pillow.
