The Unexpected Wedding(36)
She turned at the sound of a knock at the door. “Come in.”
Becky Lee walked through the door. Bella took one look at her and hurried over. “What’s the matter?”
Becky Lee forced a weak smile. “Nothing? I mean, I’m getting married today. Why would I be feeling shaky?”
“Oh, hon. It’s going to be okay. Really.” Bella hugged her friend. “Though there is still time to change your mind.”
“Not going to happen.”
“Then let’s go back in my bedroom and get you dressed and ready. I’m going to do your hair. I have flowers I’m going to tuck into it. You’ll look great.”
Bella led her friend to the bedroom and helped her get dressed in Jenny’s wedding dress. It looked spectacular on her.
“Look, I bought you these heels to wear. See, aren’t they adorable? Teal toes on them. Your favorite color.”
“I love them.” Becky Lee took the shoes out of the box. “They’re perfect.”
“I thought so. I know you love teal—which is really a kind of blue—so now you have your something borrowed and something blue. The dress is vintage, so it’s your something old, the shoes are new, so you’re all covered.”
Becky Lee laughed. “I guess you do have it all sorted out for me.”
“Now, sit down and let me do your hair. I’m going to do it up with a few curls hanging down. And just a few sprigs of flowers.”
“I’m at your mercy.” Becky Lee slipped into the chair in front of the mirror.
Jenny came into the bedroom when Bella was finishing. “It looks great.” Jenny came and stood beside the mirror. “Oh, and I put the bouquet in the fridge.”
“Thanks.” Bella tucked one last sprig in Becky Lee’s hair. “There, what do you think?”
“I think you need to come do my hair all the time.” Becky Lee smiled.

Becky Lee stood up and walked over to a full-length mirror in the corner. She turned this way and that. She really did look like a bride. She even felt like a bride. Nervous. Excited.
You are a bride, silly.
“You two did so much in so little time. I can’t begin to thank you enough.”
“Of course, we helped you. Wouldn’t have it any other way. If you’re going to get married, you’re going to have a beautiful wedding.” Bella stood behind her, smiling.
“You do look beautiful, Bec.” Jenny came and stood beside her, too.
She probably was the luckiest woman in the world to have these two friends. They were always there for her. Always supported her. She didn’t know what she would do without them.
“You guys know I love you, right?” Becky Lee fought back tears.
“We love you, too.” Bella squeezed Becky Lee’s arm. “I’m going to pop outside and see if everyone is here.”
“Okay, thanks.” Becky Lee hadn’t invited many people. Jenny, Clay, and Greta. Bella and Owen, of course. Cal had wanted Steve and Holly to come, so they invited Josh, too. Scotty had been pleased about that. She’d invited Keely since she’d worked for her forever, and her boyfriend Hunt. She didn’t think the town would believe there was an actual wedding without at least a few others besides Jenny and Bella.
Bella came back in after a few minutes. “Everyone is here. I had them all sit down. If you want to come outside now, we’ll get started.” She handed Becky Lee the bouquet.
Becky Lee took one last look in the mirror. One last look at herself as a single woman. She would be a married woman the next time she looked in a mirror.
A married woman.
She took a deep breath. “All right. I’m ready.” She actually thought she might be ready. Everything was going to be okay. It was. Wasn’t it?

Cal stood by the arbor shifting his weight from foot to foot. When he realized he was clenching his fist, he forced himself to relax. It was going to be okay. Wasn’t it?
He looked up and saw Jenny and Bella come outside. Then he saw Becky Lee. She looked… stunning. To be honest, she took his breath away.
This beautiful woman was going to marry him?
She came up beside him and smiled at him. Her smile gave him strength.
“You look beautiful.”
Becky Lee blushed. “Thank you.”
“Really beautiful.”
“I… uh… are we ready to start?”
Luke stood in front of them. “I think we are ready.” Luke thanked everyone for coming then looked at Cal. “Cal here wrote the vows.”
Becky Lee looked up at him then, her eyes wide with surprise and appreciation.
He leaned close and whispered in her ear. “Hope that’s okay.”
