The Resistance(21)

“Tommy told me to drag your ass down there if I have to.”

I glare at him, in no mood for his shit today. “Now you listen to Tommy? You’re never on time. I’ll be down later.”

“Dude, it’s a broad.” He digs in his pocket and holds up a silver coin. “Dime meet dozen.”

A sweet voice from next to me chimes in, “Why is there man in the room?”

Looking down at her, I reply, “Ignore him. He’s leaving.”

When I turn back to Dex he’s holding his hands in front of his chest and says, “Nice jugs.”

Holliday gasps in horror and throws the covers over her head. I grab the closest thing I can reach, which is my wallet, and strike him in the face before he even sees it coming. Credit cards and money go flying everywhere, and I yell, “Get the fuck out! Now!”

His hands cover his face and he groans in pain. “Ever since you gave up drugs, you’ve become such a dick, Outlaw.” I freeze when he calls me Outlaw. My heart stops as my gaze drifts to the woman hiding next to me. He storms out of the room and I hear the front door slam.

Holliday peeks out, the sheet covering everything but her eyes. “Is he gone?” She sounds mad, and I’m not sure if it’s because Dex was here or because she now knows the truth.

I nod once, my breath caught in my throat still waiting for a sign that she knows.

“He saw my breasts! What the hell? Why was he in here?” She looks pissed, and sounds it as she continues. “I can’t believe he barged in here like that and called you a dick. Do you work with him? He should be fired for intruding like that.”

“Yeah,” I reply, clearing my throat.

My tone must sound off because she looks up at me, her eyebrows knitted together. “Are you okay?”

“Yeah,” I repeat my other answer.

“How’d he get in here anyway? That was really unprofessional of a co-worker to barge in like that.”

“He needs to learn some manners. I apologize for what he said to you.”

“You don’t have to. It’s all on him. He was rude.” She looks past me to the clock next to the bed, and says, “I hate to do this because it’s so warm and cozy in this bed with you and I would happily stay here all day if I didn’t have someone waiting on me.”

She starts to climb out of bed, but I take her hand, tugging her back to me, and ask, “I need to go too, but can I see you later?”

Her expression turns sweet. “I’d like to see you later. I have a meeting to go to and then a dinner I’ve already scheduled, but I’m free after that.”

I can’t set a time without going through my schedule of obligations with Tommy first. “Can I have your number? I can text you when I’m done and we can meet up later.”

She takes the phone I hand her and types her number in, then gets out of bed. I do too, grabbing some jeans from my suitcase and putting them on. I stop to watch her get dressed, the act more appealing than she realizes. I catch one last glimpse of her tattoo before her shirt tumbles down and covers it.

At the door, she pulls me by the fly, closer, until our lips meet. Licking my lips afterwards, I taste her, realizing she gave me a kiss to remember. Watching her drag her teeth over her bottom lip, I smile, knowing I gave her a kiss she won’t forget.

“So you promise to text me?” she asks, so oblivious to how sexy I think she is.

“I will. The moment I’m free. It might be late.”

“Late’s okay. We’re in Vegas, after all.”

I open the door for her and she walks out, stepping backward. With her finger pointed at the tray of food she brought over, she laughs, and says, “You owe me another breakfast.”

“I think I can handle that.”

“Bye, Dalton,” she says with a little wave and a smile.

If I didn’t have to leave, I’d be tossing her over my shoulder and fucking her again. But I do, so I watch her and that great ass until she reaches the elevator then go back inside to get dressed.

“Some shows, I walk out on stage and can tell it’s gonna be an awesome night. Other times, I leave it to fate to figure out.” ~Johnny Outlaw

I should eat because I’m starving, but I want to get back to the room and check on Tracy. The day has disappeared; Time slipped away when I was with Dalton.

When I walk in, she’s there, putting on her makeup. She stops and our eyes meet in the mirror, then a smile appears and she says, “So you chose the second chance, I see.”

Sitting down on the bed, I flop backwards with my arms wide open. “It might have been a third chance technically. It’s hard to keep track.” I giggle. “But I did and I’m so glad. Feeling this good should be criminal. Criminal. Ahhh. Dalton.”
