The Magnolia Cafe(66)

“I could always go with you on a few assignments. I think Katherine could take over the cafe when we’re gone. It’s time I accept her help. Mother won’t be happy, but then for the first time in my adult life, I’m not setting out to please my mother. As you kept telling me—and I’m willing to listen to now—we all make choices.”

“And I choose you.” Hunt took both her hands in his, his heart happy and his future looking bright. “And even if we travel some, Comfort Crossing will always be our home.”

CHAPTER TWENTY-FOUR

“After the tornado cancelled our wedding last month, Clay almost had me convinced we should run off and elope.” Jenny stood in front of the full length mirror at Bella’s house. “He wasn’t much on waiting four more weeks.”

“I, for one, am very glad he waited.” Becky Lee came up behind Jenny and gave her a quick hug. “You look beautiful. The wedding is going to be fabulous.”

Jenny stepped away from the mirror and Becky Lee stood in front of it, critically looking at herself. “I sure didn’t think I’d be the only bridesmaid, though.”

“I didn’t think you would be either.” Bella looked down at her own wedding dress and ran her hand over the delicate lace. “But a double wedding seemed like the most logical solution, didn’t it?”

Jenny laughed. “Well, since you’d already planned the wedding, it seemed only fair to share it with you once you and Owen decided to get married.”

Bella grinned. “I had all that planning already finished for your interrupted wedding. Just added a few more guests, more food at the reception, and presto, we have a double wedding.”

Jenny’s eyes sparkled. “I’m so happy for you and Owen.”

“And I’m so glad we’re finally going to see you and Clay married.” Bella’s heart was filled with love and gratitude for her friends and full of love for Owen. Even with all the rush of the preparations, a peace spread through her.

“The wedding is going to be magical. The arbor is lovely. The chairs have those darling mint green bows tied on them. The hydrangeas everywhere. Bella, you’ve outdone yourself.” Becky Lee turned and walked over to her friends. “I tell y’all, it’s about time we’re seeing these weddings.”

Bella peeked out the window and saw Owen and Clay standing by the arbor with Pastor Adam. Owen shifted back and forth, twisting his watch. She smiled. Owen’s brother, Jake, leaned over and said something to him, and Owen nodded. It wasn’t often she saw the cool businessman acting nervous. She was nervous herself… only she wasn’t. Excited might be a better word. She smoothed the skirt of her wedding dress again.

The music started playing outside in Bella’s garden. Her heart did a quick flip of joy. She was marrying Owen. Jenny and Clay were finally going to be together.

“Okay, here we go.” Becky Lee stood in the doorway and turned to smile back at her friends, then headed out the door and started down the aisle.

Bella took Jenny’s hand in hers.

Jenny squeezed her hand and smiled. “You ready?”

Bella nodded.

Jenny and Bella walked down the aisle to their very own happily-ever-afters.
