The Billionaire’s Burden(46)
My entire body felt as though it were on fire, searing away every thought.
The night had been long and the morning longer. I was exhausted beyond belief, every inch of my body begged for slumber. Yet, there was nothing like the feeling of being in his arms, there was nothing like our mouths hungrily pressing and feeding off one another. No amount of tiredness could ever compete with the desire I felt to never stop our mouths from dancing together, crashing like waves.
Though our feelings burned brighter than ever, the horizon was bleak, whether we were aware at that moment or not.
A human and werewolf were unheard of as a union , and there were many who stood to tear us apart.
While Lucy sat at our table, sipping her coffee and rolling her eyes at the sound of our muted gasps of pleasure through the wall, Aubrey sat in her own coffeehouse, mulling over the occurrences of the day.
The other werewolves had long departed, going home to try and process the events of the morning. They were deciding for themselves whether or not to accept our spark, our love, and they were deciding whether they felt safe with my knowledge or not.
Aubrey, however, had decided the moment her eyes rested on me in that flimsy little plastic dome.
She was pack leader after all, she had to look out for those who came to her for guidance. She had to make difficult choices for those who were too young to understand the consequences of their choices.
Soon enough, she believed, Eli would see the error of his ways.
Soon enough, she believed, she would be rid of the human who felt the spark.
At the moment, Eli and I were oblivious to the plots being slowly constructed behind our backs.
Right now, we felt only the heat of our kiss, the heat of our passion, and the heat of our love that had only just begun to burn.
It was as though our minds worked as one, seared as one, yearned as one.
He was mine.
I was his.
He was my werewolf next door.
