Her pulse jackhammering, she step toward the destruction. Liam wrapped an arm around her shoulders and halted her.

"Wait," he said and glanced to the left toward a fresh wave of voices. "Security is here, let's let them go in first."

But Shannon pulled away, stepping into the room farther despite the  flood of panic. Where was it? Where was her-and then she saw the gleam  of silver. Her laptop sat on the floor. It looked like it had fallen off  the bed. She didn't use it for much, but she kept all her records on  it.

And then security arrived and they had questions, too.
