Stranded(69)
“But do you think your feelings stem from having been on the island with no one to depend on except each other? They say in times of stress, people come together who may not in ordinary circumstances.”
“We understand a lot of people will come to that conclusion, but I know this would have happened between the three of us regardless of the plane crash. Even at the airport, the attraction we shared was strong. Grant and I had already decided India was the woman of our dreams when we first laid eyes on her.” Rafe patted India on the knee.
Ellen looked flustered for a moment, but then regained her composure. “So you two have done this before? Shared a woman?”
Grant nodded. “By accident, we discovered it was something we liked to do.”
The reporter shook her head. “I’m sorry, but it’s not likely I’ll be able to put any of this in the paper. My editor would probably say I was making it up.”
“You have your tape recorder,” India pointed out.
“I know, but my point is, your story is more provocative than the types of stories The Post prints. Maybe we could focus more on your survival efforts.”
“Would it be too provocative if it were just me and one man on the island?” India wanted to know.
“To be honest, no. I would probably be able to get away with writing about a great love story. But if people read this, we’d get complaints for sure.” Ellen shook her head. “No. I’m sorry. I truly believe the three of you do share a special bond, but I can’t do the story as you want me to.”
India bit her bottom lip. If it didn’t get printed, Angie could go to any rag she wanted. “It could still be a great love story, and I think you’re just the reporter to do it.”
“But—”
India held up her hand to halt the other woman’s protest. “Just hear me out and if by the end of my story, you haven’t changed your mind, then I’ll respect your wishes.”
Ellen looked like she wanted to argue, but then nodded. “Okay, but I make no promises.”
“I understand.” India told their tales, leaving nothing out, except the more graphic and intimate details of the story. She even told Ellen of Rafe’s marriage and how his wife was trying to use their past to get more money from him and Grant. Then she finished her tale of how she finally gained strength through her love for these two men.
By the time India was finished, tears streamed down the reporter’s face. India grabbed the box of tissues on the end table and handed it to the other woman.
“That was absolutely beautiful. I was skeptical when you made your surprise announcement, but now I understand. I do want to write this story, and I’ll fight to get it printed, thank you so much for sharing it with me.”
India grinned in triumph. Once that story hit the paper, Angie would have no tale to tell, because it would already be told.
Game. Set. Match.
It was later that afternoon when they pulled up to Grant’s house. They’d decided they’d all live here until they found a bigger place together. Personally, India didn’t care if they lived in a cardboard box, as long as she was with them. She didn’t think it was possible to be in love with anyone as much as she was with them.
“So what do you think of your temporary new home?” Grant asked when they stepped inside.
“It’s nice, although it definitely needs a woman’s touch.”
Rafe laughed, putting her suitcases down. “She’s only been here for a few seconds and already she wants to redecorate. Women.”
“Hey! I resemble that remark. Besides, there’s really no point in redecorating if we’re going to sell anyway, but I do insist I get a pink bathroom in our new home.”
Grant groaned. “That’s a sacred room for a man. Any color but pink.”
“We’ll compromise. Maybe peach for the bathroom and pink for the bedroom.” She had no intention of turning their home into the Barbie Dream House, but India liked to tease them.
Rafe rolled his eyes heavenward. “I think we’ve created a monster, Grant.”
Now that they were finally alone together, there was only one thing she wanted to do. “So are we all just going to stand around and talk or will you show me to the bedroom?”
“I thought you’d never asked.” Grant scooped her into his arms.
“Put me down,” she protested with a laugh.
“Not before we get to the bedroom,” he countered.
Just as he promised he would, Grant carried her to his bedroom upstairs with Rafe right behind them, not setting India on her feet until they were on the side of the bed.
“I want to undress you both.” She began to work on Grant’s button-up shirt and slowly pushed it off his shoulders, then worked on his pants. Only when he stood magnificently naked before her, cock jutting forward in its hardness did she undress Rafe with frantic movements.
