She Fell For A Boss(61)
They both climbed in his bed, and with her body against his and his arms holding her in place, they settled in for the night. Yami didn't complain because it just felt right. She would have to figure out the rest later.
The next morning, just like planned, Miego woke her up early so that she could get Ray up and dressed. Yami had class at ten, and she was taking Ray to daycare. After she had them both dressed, Ray had her bookbag and Yami had hers, the two stopped by Miego’s studio to let him know that they were leaving.
As usual, they found him leaning over his mixing board, headphones on, and nodding his head to whatever he was listening to. Yami bit her lip because he was still only dressed in sweatpants, no shirt. The second he realized they were in there with him, he pulled the headphones off and addressed Ray.
“You leaving me, Ray? I thought you were chillin’ with me today.” He lifted her into his lap and kissed her face.
“Mommy said I have to go to school.” She pointed and looked up at Yami.
“You’ll see Miego later. You have to go to school like Mommy, Ray.”
Ray stuck her little lips out and pouted a little more, which made Miego laugh.
“Don't do that, Ray. Be a big girl and go to school, and I’ll have a surprise for you when you get home.”
“Okay.” Just like that, she was over it.
Yami rolled her eyes and shook her head.
Miego laughed and then shrugged.
“Let's go, Ray, we’re late.”
Ray slid off Miego’s lap after he kissed her cheek one last time and then walked over and grabbed her mother's hand. He stood and joined them, leaning down to kiss Yami before he whispered in her ear, “I’ll have a surprise for you too.” He kissed the side of her face and she blushed.
After walking them to the door, Miego locked up and headed back to the studio.
Yami grinned all the way down stairs until she hit the front door and heard Ray’s little voice.
“Daddy.” She yanked away from Yami.
Even after Yami tried to tighten her hold on her daughter’s hand, Ray ran to Black and jumped into his arms.
“Hey, baby girl. Daddy missed you.”
“I missed you too, Daddy. Are you taking us to school?” Ray asked.
He looked away from his daughter and right at Yami. “Yep, would you like that?”
“Yes.” Ray giggled. “Come on, Mommy.”
“No, Ray, Mommy’s going to drive us,” Yami said, looking at Ray and trying not to make eye contact with Black.
He laughed arrogantly and then looked at Yami with so much hate that it made her heart race. She gripped her phone and his eyes went right to it.
“Don't even think about it, that nigga already got you in enough trouble as it is. Get in the got damn car, Yamiah,” he said as he clenched his jaw.
She looked at him and then her daughter, knowing that shit was about to go tragically wrong before she moved slowly to his car and got in.
After he buckled Ray into her seat, Black moved into the driver’s seat and looked at her. “I told you to keep that nigga away from my daughter, didn't I? I swear you don't fucking listen, but I got something for that.”
He started the car and pulled away from the curb. Yami looked up at their building as her heart pounded harder in her chest. She didn't know what Black was about to do because he was so unpredictable, but she had a feeling that this might be the last time she ever saw her daughter, her building or Miego again. She knew that Black would never hurt Ray but when it came to her, there were no guarantees.
