She Fell For A Boss(46)
“I didn't know how to find you, so I went to her place first. She tried talking some bullshit about you not fucking with me, and I told her you were grown and to mind her own business.”
Yami looked down at Ray, who was lying against her chest with her eyes closed. “That’s my sister, Miego. My business is her business, and she’s just worried about me. Why would you do that?”
“Man, shorty, you grown. You’re a got damn mother to your own child, so why the fuck you need somebody else telling you how to live your life? Caring is one thing, but her telling you who you can and can't be with is a whole other story. Do you want to be here?”
He stopped what he was doing and peered at her as he waited. His stare was intense, but she wasn't intimidated.
“Yeah, but it's not that simple.”
“The fuck it ain't. It's that simple, you just want to complicate shit, but it's cool. Yo, get dressed so we can leave, I have a few things to take care of.”
With his jeans and shirt tossed over his shoulder and his bag in one hand, Miego walked to the bathroom and slammed the door, which made her jump a little. She knew he was mad, but she didn't really understand why. It wasn't his place to check her sister so he could be mad all he wanted. Either way, he was wrong.
Miego and Yami didn't really say much to each other until he took her to drop Ray off at her daycare, and even then it was just him asking questions about where to go and her instructing him to wait while she took Ray inside. Ray insisted on giving him a hug before Yami took her into her daycare, which made Miego smile. She had his heart already, now if he could just get her mother to cooperate, things would be on point.
On the way to Yami’s school, they made small talk, but he was still annoyed, so he mostly kept quiet. He had very little control of his temper and didn't want to say anything to make the situation worse. Yami watched him, and he knew she wanted to say something, but didn't. Even after he reached her campus, she told him she would text him when she was done with class and that was it. Miego just nodded and waited for her to shut the door.
He was coming back to get her, but he needed a minute to clear his head and figure out what he was doing. He couldn't fuck with Yami if she was going to be back and forth with him, and he knew that was exactly what would happen if her sister stayed in her ear. Hell, she was already on the damn fence, and that was the last thing he needed.
Miego understood her situation and the fact that she and Black shared a child would most definitely complicate things for both of them, but all he wanted was to make her life easier. She deserved that. There was just something about her that he couldn't really explain just yet, but whatever it was, it was pulling at his conscience in a way that told him that she was the one. She was what he needed, and that feeling alone had him wanting to lock things down and make sure she never had to question or doubt if she was with the right person ever again. Miego was going to be that for her, but, for now, he just needed to convince her to give him a chance.
Miego made the drive downtown to check in with Karlin since she had left him several messages last night telling him that he needed to come see her right away, but he had Yami heavy on his mind. If he had plans on locking things down with her, he damn sure had to get Karlin under control. She was potentially going to be a problem.
Karlin was on some bullshit because his visits were set up to be once a month, and it damn sure hadn't been a month since he last saw her. All that meant was that she was about to try and cash in on the privileges that she was giving him. He planned to make it clear to her that she wasn't running shit though because when it was all said and done, he was going to be the only one calling the shots in his life.
Regardless of the fact that she could potentially fuck him over at any time if she really wanted to be on some fuck shit, he wasn't about to give in to that. At some point, he would have to give her what she wanted at least once to get her under control, but that was going to be on his terms. He didn't really mind because Karlin was worth it, but then there was Yami. Even with her indecisive ass not knowing what she wanted, he still knew he was rocking with her, so fucking Karlin wasn't really the move. It was just a necessary evil.
After he made it to her office downtown and was escorted back to see her, he sat down next her desk, leaned back, and stared at her. She wore a scowl and leaned back in her chair too.
“The fuck you need, Karlin?”
“You can check that attitude, Miego. If I call, you need to answer. As your parole officer—”
“Man, cut that bullshit. It damn sure ain't like you’re doing shit by the rules, so kill all that. The fuck you want, man? I got shit to do, and I’m not supposed to see you for another month.”
