She Fell For A Boss(37)

“I told you, you ain't my damn girl, Kia. I can text whoever the fuck I want to, whenever the fuck I want to, and it's none of your damn business. The sooner you get that shit, the less complicated your life will be. The fuck I look like dealing with you when I know you’ll go as low as sucking my man’s dick for a damn twenty sack? I tried, but you just don’t get it. You’re not for me anymore, Kia. I can’t be with someone that causes me to have to say a silent prayer that I don’t catch something every time I slide up in their shit.” He looked at her serious as hell, which made it worse.

“You’re a fucking asshole and I hate you,” Kia yelled.

“Yeah, I’ll be that, but at least, my shit won't fall off from fucking around with you. But I got some stuff to do, so I'll catch you later.”

Kia stared at Miego as if expecting him to say something else. She was pissed, but more hurt than anything, and the fact that he didn't seem moved by the fact that he had just insulted her magnified her hurt feelings. Kia knew that she hadn't always been the best to Miego. She cheated, she did dumb things, but she genuinely cared for him. She knew who he was, she knew what he was capable of, and the kind of guy Miego was.

Feeling defeated, Kia opened the door and got out, half expecting him to at least acknowledge the fact that she was upset, which of course he did not do. He seemed preoccupied and uninterested in anything concerning her at the moment. It pissed her off, but she only had herself to blame. The only thing she could do was watch as he pulled away from the curb while she settled into to the disappointment that she had lost a good thing.

Having a man like Miego in your corner was definitely an asset. If he was down for you, you never had to worry about anything. She had learned that over the years and was starting to face the fact that she no longer had that with him.

Miego received confirmation from Train that they were still on for eight, so he had a few hours to kill, and still no sight of Yami. Unable to let it go, he decided to go look for her at the only two places he knew to look. Yami didn't have a car, so he started with her sister’s place. If he didn't find Yami there, he was going straight to her mom’s crib. He didn't know shit about her family, but they were going to know him today. She was about to explain what the fuck came up that caused her to have him waiting outside her school looking like a damn fool and then ignoring his calls all day.

When he reached Yaz’s building, he parked and sat there for a minute. Miego realized that he knew the building but didn't know the apartment. Fuck! He saw a few kids run inside and decided to ask and see if they knew Yaz, so he got out and locked his ride. When he pushed through the metal door, the kids were gone. He could hear them running up the stairs, so he yelled up to them.

“Aye yo, do you know Yami and Yaz?”

One of the dirty face little boys who appeared to be around ten leaned over the rail looking down into the stairwell at him.

“I might, how much you got on it?”

Miego chuckled. Shorty was running game, so he rolled with it.

“How much you want?” he returned.

“I’ll take twenty?” the kid yelled back.

“You wait at the door with me, and once I know it’s the right apartment, I’ll make it fifty.”

“You bullshitting,” the kid yelled back with a grin as he rubbed his hands together.

“Straight up, yo.” Miego reached into his pocket, pulled out a fold of cash, and removed a fifty.

“Fourth floor, meet me there,” the kid yelled.

Miego grinned and climbed the stairs. He didn't like fucking with the elevators because it was nothing for them to break down, and he wasn't about to get stuck on one.

When he pushed through the metal door to the fourth floor, the kid was waiting. He led the way to a door and held his hand out.

“Chill, shorty, if she’s in there, you get fifty. If not, yo ass gets ten.”

“Ah, man, that's fucked up, homie. It's not my fault if she ain't home.”

“You got a fly ass mouth, how old are you?” Miego asked and then knocked on the door.

“I’m grown,” he responded with a hard stare, eyeing Miego up and down, which made him laugh.

Miego stepped to him and grabbed a fist full of his shirt before forcing him against the wall. He lifted the kid off his feet just a little and noticed the fear in his eyes.

Just then, the door opened and Yaz stepped out.

“Why are you holding Shelton like that?” She glared at Miego, who ignored her and focused on the kid.

“I thought you were grown, lil nigga. Why you look scared?” Miego lowered him to the floor and handed him the fifty.

Shelton snatched it and ran off. Just before he pulled on the door leading to the stairwell, he yelled, “I wasn't scared, bitch.” And then he was gone.
