Sexin' My Man's Best Friend(18)

If I didn't know any better, I would say that almost sounded like a  threat. I knew he was right but I rolled my eyes anyways. Eventually I  told him he could come over and I gave him the address. Being nine  months pregnant sure would take a toll on anyone's body. I was so  uncomfortable and Travis Jr. was right on my bladder and I swore I  urinated about twelve times before I heard my buzzer go off because  someone was pressing on it from the outside.

I knew it was Travis but I pressed the talk button anyways just be sure  before I buzzed him in. His knock at the door was almost instantly. When  I opened the door, Travis was standing there looking gorgeous as ever.  It looked like he just come from the barber shop. His fade was trimmed  nicely and his shape up was spot on. His goatee was slicked down  perfectly against his sugar brown face.

I knew why I had sacrificed my marriage just to have a taste of him. He  was all that and more. Hours spent at the gym was doing his body well.  He wasn't too buff and wasn't too small, but he was just right. He was  casually dressed in a pair of what looked like Gucci blue jeans and a  pair of wheat Timberland boots.

For a lawyer, he still dressed like he was from the streets, though I  never knew Travis to be from the streets. From what he told me his  parents were both medical doctors and he grew up in Los Angeles. He had  only come to Ohio because he was kind of tired of the fast life and  wanted something more chilled and laid back. Cincinnati was definitely  the place to be if anyone was looking for that.

I couldn't help but think about my unborn son as I stared at the man who  helped me create him. I could only hope he would be a spitting image of  Travis.

I wasn't even aware I was staring him down and hadn't invited him inside  until the snap of Travis finger broke me out of whatever world I was  in.

"Earth to Sundy," Taylor said, inviting himself in.

I chuckled nervously and closed the door. Travis was already looking  around my place searching for anything to be out of place or dangerous. I  knew he would find nothing because Cynthia had already baby-proofed  everything. Plus, it wasn't like Travis Jr. was going to pop out my  coochie already at the destructive age messing up the place.

"Where's T.J. room?"

The fact that Travis had just referred to Travis Jr. as T.J. caught me  off guard. I didn't even think about that. My son had the same nick name  as my husband who is not his father. It was in that moment that I knew I  would not refer to him as T.J. but as Travis.

I think Travis caught on to the words he just spoke as well because he  chuckled a bit and shook his head like he couldn't believe what he just  said.

"Scratch that. My son's name is not T.J. I'll call him little Trav."

I showed Travis his son's room and he tooted his lips up like he wasn't pleased with the cupcake design.

"What's wrong?" I asked.

Travis scoffed, looking around. "Is that a serious question? What you  mean what's wrong? Why you put little gay cupcakes on his wall? What boy  you know wants cupcakes instead of Spider Man or something?"

I sucked my teeth at him. The cupcake theme was either for boys or  girls. Mostly everything was blue; very few areas were pink. If he  didn't like it, oh well. This was my son's room and it was going to stay  this way.

"Well, if you think he would like Spider Man, once he's older then how  about you design his room at your place and put nothing but Spider Man  theme." I suggested.

Travis rested his hand on his chin. "Already ahead of you, girl. His  room is complete at my home and just know he doesn't have any damn  cupcakes on the wall," Travis said.

After looking at Jr.'s room, Travis went and made himself comfortable on  my sofa. It looked as if he wasn't looking to leave anytime soon. I  offered him something to drink and took my seat next to him.

"You know I only have two weeks left before I'm expected to deliver. My  due date is December 1st." I took a sip of my tea and waited his  response.

He nodded his head but didn't say anything. I wanted to ask him about  Valerie and how she was taking the news because I hadn't heard anything  about her in forever and I was certain Travis told her because there was  no way he would keep it a secret. Deciding I wanted to know, I asked.

He took his sweet little time answering. His once soft smooth face had  turned into a case of stress lines on the forehead and a blank  expression was plastered on his face.

He sucked his teeth. "She left," he simply stated.

Shocked, I asked why.

"Because she was pissed I was having a child and it wasn't with her. She  was even more pissed that the baby would be fully black and not mixed  so she couldn't even pretend the baby was hers and mine. I gotta admit I  didn't know what I saw in that woman besides her looks and pussy. In  everything else, she sucked. She didn't cook, clean, or take care of me.  I was doing it all. Paying the bills, letting her shop with my money.  Dicking her down good," he paused and smirked at me after his last  comment.

I chuckled and rolled me eyes. "Whatever."

"She just wasn't the woman for me. If she couldn't accept my child then I  told her she could kick rocks, which is exactly what she did."

I had to admit I was relieved that Valerie was no longer around. Part of  me wasn't even surprised. White bitches wanted to be on a pedestal and  when they feel they aren't, they leave you high and dry. No woman in her  right mind would leave a man like Travis. The typical white girl is  nothing but a gold digger. They get with a black man for God knows  whatever reason. I didn't too much like Valerie, but if I had to accept  her being around because of Travis, then I was willing to accept that  but since she's gone, I wouldn't have to deal with it after all.

Travis stayed the entire day with me. It was like old times again minus  the sex. Neither one of us even attempted to seduce the other. We knew  we couldn't go there any longer. Our affair was over and all we were  thinking about was co-parenting. We spent the entire day eating and  talking. I knew he was excited about Travis Jr. but I didn't know just  how excited he was, until he told me he had already bought Jr. a mini  Hummer that he would be able to drive once he hit about four. He had  showed me pictures in his phone of Jr.'s closet.

My mouth fell open when I saw all the clothes that were inside. He had  newborn clothes, toddler clothes, and even clothes for him when he would  be ten years old. Travis also told me he was having a barber shop built  on the bottom floor of his home, so he could be the one to give Jr. his  first haircut and teach him how to cut hair. He had stair protectors,  toys, the whole 9 yards. Travis was truly ready for his son's arrival.

I had shared with Travis how I was planning on getting my marriage back  with Taylor. I expressed how much I loved Taylor and regretted cheating  on him although I didn't regret our child. I even asked Travis if he  thought Taylor would forgive me and welcome me back.

Travis rubbed the back of his neck and formed an unreadable expression  on his race. "Honestly, I do. Taylor loves you to death. He's hurt by  the both of us, not just you; he just needs some time. Trust me, if  Taylor was done with you; you would not be sitting up here in this fat  ass condo at his expense. I think he's just trying to figure out how to  deal with the situation and how to deal with us. Maybe you should call  him," Travis suggested.

It was like we we're friends. Like I wasn't pregnant with his child but I  was simply going through problems with my marriage. Neither I, nor  Travis wanted to be with each other. I wanted Taylor back and Travis  wanted to be single and just raise his son. Before he left, we hugged  and said our goodbyes. I took a shower then lay in my bed holding my  cellphone in my hand. It was midnight and I knew Taylor was sleeping.  Which is why I decided not to call? I knew I wouldn't be able to say  what I had to say if he answered the phone. When I pressed call, it rung  four times before going to voicemail which I was relieved about that.

When the operator told me to leave a message at the beep, I took a deep  breath, because this was my last shot to really pour my heart out to my  husband.

"Hi, Taylor. It's me, Sundy. I know you're sleeping right now but I  decided to call you anyway. It's been almost a month since I've last  spoken to you and I just want you to know that I miss you so much; you  and Tayla. I didn't know how much I would miss you guys. I also miss us.  Our marriage and the love we shared. I know you still love me Taylor  because I still love you with everything in me. You said some harsh  things to me that day in the kitchen but I know I deserved everything  you said and more. I was dead wrong for my actions and I take full  responsibility for that. I was being selfish, wanting my cake and eat it  too when I had a special thing right in front of me. I know you have  little to no trust where I am concerned but at the end of the day we  have a beautiful daughter together. She needs us both whether we're  together or not. I would rather have you in my life as a friend then to  not have you at all. Please forgive me Taylor. If somehow we can work  this out, I would be the happiest woman in the world. A woman who would  be the most faithful to you no matter what. Everyone makes mistakes  Taylor. Please keep that in mind. I love you. Kiss Tayla for me. Bye."
