One More Chance (Part 2)(53)
“I moved in with Spence. So, it looks like we are all living in Michigan,” she says excitedly.
After all the congratulations, I look at Quinn who’s sitting on the couch near the corner looking upset.
“What’s wrong?” I ask as I approach and take the seat next to her.
“Nothing.”
“Try again,” I say calling her out.
“You guys are all married and happy and I don’t know if Brody wants that with me.”
“Why wouldn’t he? He loves you?”
“I know, but you guys are all married and you have Lily and I want that too,” she says softly.
“You are going to have that. We just graduated today, you have plenty of time to have kids and get married.”
“I know, I guess I just feel a little jealous. I’ll be fine.”
“If you aren’t, tell me, I’m always here for you.”
“What’s going on?” Brody asks as he comes up to us.
“Just girl talk,” I’ll be back, I say as I head off in a different direction.
“We are not telling anyone,” I say quickly to Liam.
“Why not?”
“Because your brother needs to propose to Quinn first.”
“Is he planning on doing that?” he asks, looking confused.
“He better hope so,” I state matter of fact.
“Babe, what happened?” Liam asks worriedly.
“Quinn feels jealous of us all getting married, us having Lily, she wants her own start.”
“Hails, I know you love her, but we aren’t going to stop our news because she’s a little jealous right now.”
“But,”
“No but’s babe, it’s not happening. Let’s go,” he says as he leads me towards the center of the living room. “Can we have everyone’s attention please,” he asks as everyone turns to look. “We have some news of our own to share.”
“You’re moving home?” Denise shouts.
“No Mom, sorry,” he laughs.
“Haley’s pregnant?” My mom asks.
“No Mom, I’m not pregnant,” I say, surprised that my mom would say such a thing. “But my husband is moving back to Michigan permanently.”
“What do you mean?” Denise asks confused.
“I talked to the coaches and I’ve been traded to Detroit, which is great for us; now I’ll only be forty-five minutes away.”
“Are you guys going to move to Detroit?” Brody asks.
“No,” I answer bluntly.
“We are going to stay in Ann Arbor and I’ll make the commute for games and practices,” Liam says.
What about your job?” Quinn asks, looking at me.
“I’ll continue working,” I say, looking confused.
“So, you aren’t moving?” Kenzie asks looking hopeful.
“No, we are staying here. Liam may need to rent a place near Detroit, but we aren’t moving there,” I say standing firm. I have no desire to live there.
Denise and my mom decide they want a few more pictures. We get one last one, which has the Masters family and the Lawrence family along with Quinn, because she is family too. It’s amazing how so much good and bad has happened over the last few years, yet over time, all the bad seems like a distant memory.
Epilogue (1 Year Later)
“Hey beautiful,” Liam says as he enters the room carrying our daughter.
“Hey you, is he nervous?” I ask as I make silly faces at Lily.
“Not at all, more excited than anything,” he says as he hands Lily over to me.
“Hi Princess, are you ready for today? I ask as I give her kisses.
“Where’s Quinn?” Liam asks.
“She’s finishing up getting ready.”
“You look beautiful,” he says as he leans down to chastely kiss me. “And you squirt, how are you doing in there?” he says as he rubs my belly.
“He’s quiet today,” I say feeling thankful. “Only four months to go,” I say with a look.
“I love you pregnant baby,” he says as he takes Lily back.
“I’m not trying to have a football team Liam.”
“We could, I’m all for it,” he says with a sexy smirk.
“Then you can carry them for nine months and give birth, we’ll see how much you like it then,” I say with a straight face.
“Okay, okay, not a football team, maybe just five,” he says with a smile before kissing me.
“Oh my gosh, if I gain any more weight, this dress would not fit me right now,” Kenzie says as she walks into the room with Quinn right behind her.
“You look great,” I praise.
“Ha, yeah right, I look like a blimp with this bump. How come you look so cute pregnant and I look like a whale?” she whines.
