Nights of Sin(20)
“That’s easy. I would be bored at my apartment all day. There’s only so much a girl can buy, and I’m not interested in shopping. I do occasionally bake up a storm for my apartment building, but other than that, I like being at the library. Most of the time it’s quiet, but I love the customers who come in. I love the scent of musty books, and brand new books. The kids as well. They’re noisy, and they love getting into everything, which is so sweet to be part of. In a nutshell, I love my job. What about you? What made you sell your father’s business?”
“You knew about that?”
“It was newsworthy. I find anything that is in the news, I read.” She shrugged. “You were big news a few years back.”
He sighed, ordering another shot. It would be his last one as he didn’t want to lose control around Alexa. She wasn’t the most trusting, and he needed to have that control to keep him sane. “From the time I was old enough, I was being trained to take over the family business. If you screwed up, there were always consequences. I graduated at sixteen, and was already in college by then. My father, he demanded excellence in everything. One day, in my late twenties, I woke up and realized I hated my life. I hated working every single day. I hated the job I’d been trained to do. I hated the people, the work, the business, the hatred, and the fucking stress. What the papers don’t tell you was I nearly died of a heart attack around twenty-five.” She gasped, and he touched her hand, trying to offer her comfort. “You don’t need to worry. I didn’t end up dead. Anyway, the doctor, who is a very good friend of mine, asked me to think about what I wanted out of life. He knew what I’d been trained to do. He advised I make the decisions myself, and gave me the warning that I wouldn’t make it past the age of thirty-five and would even suffer before then.”
“Wow, seriously?”
“Yeah, it kinds of put your life into perspective when you’re told you’re not going to make forty. I wasn’t happy, and the company was in my hands, so I sold it,” he said.
“I can see.”
“I’m thirty-three years old, and the last time I visited my doctor, he gave me a clean bill of health on everything. I’m healthy, and I’m happy.”
“What do you do in your spare time?” she asked.
“I do a little of everything. I stopped running a company, but I still do enjoy the challenge of finding something to occupy myself. I started buying property, got bored, and sold it all. I’ve done art dealing, and once again it didn’t hold my interest.”
She laughed. “Wow, you really don’t know what you love, do you?”
“Try being in my shoes, and see how you feel. Most of my life I’d wanted what my father wanted. I never actually considered what I wanted.”
“And now you’re stuck?”
“I wouldn’t say stuck.” He paused, thinking about it. “Yeah, I’m stuck.”
“At least you’re happy.”
She finished her drink, and he once again took her hand, leading her away from the main bar. “Let’s go and see something exciting.” The only thing that he’d been passionate about was getting Alexa back to the club, and in his bed. She followed behind him. “The basement is divided into two. There’s the main basement, and then there’s the dungeon. Tonight, I’m going to take you to the basement.”
The basement was where the Doms and subs liked to play. William only allowed trained and professional Doms within the club. Anyone who hadn’t trained wasn’t allowed to practice on the subs. They could come and watch, but nothing else.
Corey loved the challenge, so he had accepted training from several Doms to be able to explore the lifestyle, even if he only liked to play on occasion. He wasn’t interested in having a slave or a sub all the time. Corey liked to play at variety.
Walking down the stairwell, he paused at the door, which had a special code for him to enter. If anyone who didn’t have a code wished to watch, they had to be allowed inside first.
“When we go inside, you can’t talk about what you see. It’s private.”
“I signed the privacy clause, Corey. I’m not going to be telling anyone about what I see her. I imagine William doesn’t let anything illegal happen.”
“Of course he doesn’t.” William wanted the club to be a safe place.
After he typed in his code, the door opened, and he slid inside. Alexa followed behind him, and he closed the door hearing it lock as he did so.
The room was dim with only stages alight with couples in play. There were private booths in darkness to provide the privacy for couples who wished to watch, but not necessarily be watched.
