It's In His Kiss(70)
“I don’t want to start a fight, it’s her wedding,” I whine.
“But it’s your life, why should she decide what you wear?” I sigh as I sit down on my bed. Daniel stands in front of me, taking my chin in his hand and raising it to look at him.
“You are wearing the dress.” I nod my head. Slowly his hand traces down my throat and he starts to pull my robe off.
“Excuse me.” I stand up and he tugs it open.
“I saw you in a bathing suit that barely covered you. What are you worried about?” I shudder as he finishes opening my robe. I watch as he steps back taking in my pale pink strapless bra with matching lace thong and nude thigh highs.
“Wow!” Daniel says on an exhale. I let the robe drop as I take my dress off the hanger. I step into it and let my arms slide through covering myself up again.
“Would you zip me up?” I take my hair to the side as Daniel walks over.
“Only if you let me unzip you later,” he rasps before he kisses the center of my back. Sweet sassafras, what do you say to that?
“If you play your cards right, Westy, I’ll even let you rub my feet,” I tease. Good Kay, keep it cool.
“I’ll do more than rub your feet sweetheart,” He growls as he zips me up. I can feel his warm, minty breath singing my skin at the back of my neck. Breathe Kay.
“Ready?” he asks, as I turn to look at him flushed.
“N-no, I need my shoes.” I pick them up off the couch and sit down. Daniel comes and squats in front of me taking my shoes. I instantly bring my shaky legs together.
“What are you doing?” I ask as he puts my shoes on.
“Ensuring I at least get to rub your feet tonight.”
I let out a sigh of relief and stand up. In my heels I am tall enough to kiss his lips. I debate on it. Oh the hell with it. I give him a soft kiss. We look at each other the whole time.
“Thank You.” I pull away before I start panting and embarrass myself and start walking to the door.
We are five minutes late, but you would think we were an hour behind by the way Nicky is pacing the front lobby. I hold my breath when she glares at me.
“You bitch, I told you not to wear the dress.” She looks over at Matt.
“You gave her the dress back? Do you still love her?” She walks over and pushes him. Matt grabs her hands.
“Nicky, you need to calm down.” I can’t hear him after that because he starts to whisper.
“The Clark and Green party can follow me,” the concierge announces and everyone starts to follow him.
Daniel doesn’t leave my side. He has a hand on me at all times throughout the night. When we walk his hand is in mine and his body is blocking me from Nicky and Matt.
“I told you the dress would piss her off,” I whisper as we walk into a private room for dinner.
“Kayley, I was wondering when I would get a chance to talk to you,” Matt’s mother says as she walks over to us.
“Oh Daniel! You look so handsome.” She kisses his cheek and gives him a hug before turning to me.
“You look beautiful Kay, I love this shade of pink.” She pulls me in for a hug.
“Mrs. Green, what color is her dress?” Daniel asks.
“Her dress is pink, Daniel,” Mrs. Green says as Nicky walks by.
“I was just checking because Kayley didn’t want to wear it because she thought it was too light and might look white,” Daniel explains.
“Don’t be silly!” she laughs, dismissing the comment. I know Nicky hears this and I know her glass of red wine will end up on me pretty soon.
“Everyone, could you please take your seats,” Matt announces. I look over at Daniel and he guides me over to my seat. I am sitting on one side of Nicky and Daniel is sitting on the other side of Matt.
“This isn’t going to work. Hey Denise?” Daniel says to Nicky’s cousin. “Would you mind switching seats with me? It would put you next to Chris which is where you should be sitting anyway,” he tells her.
“If I have to sit next to my husband, then I guess I will,” she says smiling. Everyone sits down and Nicky looks over at Daniel.
“What are you doing? I have a seating arrangement for a reason.”
“Well, when I can trust you won’t torture your best friend, I will let you sit next to her,” he says easily.
“Matt, he is ruining my wedding,” she whines.
“Relax, Nick. People can sit where they want.” He looks over at Daniel as a warning. Daniel nods and looks over at me.
“See? Everything is fine.”
The next two hours go by fast and I leave dinner with nothing spilled on me and no insults thrown at me. I should have Daniel around all of the time. Wait. What? I am getting way too comfortable around him.
