In His Bed(27)

Colin tipped his head, indicating for the guy to go back inside. The moment the man disappeared behind the door, Colin helped Lea get her clothes back in place. As he fastened his belt and pants he said, “I’ve wanted you all day. Now, no texting and driving, Lea. I’m not playing around. Also, you had me worried when you didn’t answer my texts all day.”

She rose up on her tip toes and pulled him in for a kiss. “Thank you,” she whispered, lingering her breath on his lips. “I’ve never had someone do that, make me feel so alive.”

Colin wrapped his arms around her waist, loving the way her body eased into him. “My pleasure. I know you’re nervous about all of this. I don’t know what to say to make you see how much I want this. Please just give this a chance, whatever it is.”

When she rested her cheek against his chest he petted the silky strands covering her head. “This is difficult,” she said. “Can we just take it one day at a time?”

He pressed his lips on the top of her head, taking a moment to linger a kiss. “Whatever you need, baby. Are you hungry? I’m starving.”

“Me, too,” she said as he took her hand and led them to the opening of the alley. “Well, officer, seeing as I’m not going to jail, I think you should buy me dinner.”

He leaned over and kissed her cheek. “I have no problem with that.” He was so excited to be on a real date with her, he’d give up a year’s salary to take her anywhere.

Her lips split into a slight grin. “Can I touch your gun?”

He laughed. No way in hell. He opened the door to the restaurant, letting her walk in front of him. “No, but I’ll let you touch my handcuffs.”

When she stopped, his sensitive cock bumped against the crest of her backside. “I think I might need to be arrested, officer.”

When the hostess came over to seat them, he didn’t care if the woman saw him reach over and smack Lea’s gorgeous ass. “I can arrange that.”

CHAPTER SIX

Stacey stepped onto the bleachers and sat down beside Lea “I grabbed two hot dogs and sodas,” she said as she handed over a hot dog and Styrofoam cup to Lea.

Lea took a drink. “Thanks. He’s up next.” Her heart pounded so hard she was surprised the thing didn’t flop onto the bench. Colin had joined his precinct’s softball team and had invited her to come watch him play. She’d hesitated to take him up on the invitation, but the way his expression resembled a lost puppy, she couldn’t say no.

When Stacey had sat down beside her, Lea thought she was going to lose the lunch Colin had taken her out to earlier in the afternoon. She didn’t figure his mother would attend every game, but apparently that’s something mothers do.

“He’s a great pitcher,” Stacey said as Lea watched her friend scanning the field for Colin.

Lea already witnessed how well he played. He never missed a beat, striking out batter after batter. No wonder he got a full ride on a baseball scholarship. Surprising them both, Rachel walked up the steps with Scott in tow. Rachel joined them carrying an order of nachos while Scott followed with two massive sodas.

Lea and Stacey eyed Rachel’s snack. “Don’t judge me,” she said. “I’ll do extra shimmies in Zumba next week. I know we’re late. Has he pitched yet?” Scooting past Lea, she sat down next to Stacey. “Jeemany! Those guys have are fine! No offense, Scotty.”

Scott laughed. “None taken. See one you want to take home?” Rachel slapped him on the shoulder. “What? Just kidding.”

“He’s up! He’s up!” Rachel said while stuffing a nacho into her mouth. “Lord, Stacey, you make good-looking kids.”

Stacey laughed. “That I do.”

Lea felt her cheeks heat. She secretly knew just how hard and sexy Colin’s body was, but mixing the sensual memory of their tryst in the pool last night with her guilt made her thoughts explosive. For God’s sake, she was sitting next to his mother, her best friend. She took a drink, trying to clear the lump in her throat.

Colin stood in front of the dugout, practicing his swing. With each motion, the shirt he wore tightened around the firm muscles in his arms. Lea felt her stomach flutter. His lean waist twisted, making her imagination drift to how his abdomen contracted every time she kissed his stomach. There was a ticket to Hell waiting for her at the pearly gates.

Colin turned around, scanning the bleachers. Stacey waved and Colin nodded. When he found Lea, he tipped the rim of his helmet and grinned. “Looks like you two are getting along well,” Stacey said before sipping on the cup of soda.
