Dark Boundaries(50)
“I’ve never been in a place like this. It’s a bit overwhelming.”
I love how honest she is with me, but mostly I love that this is new to her. She’s not like most of the women, always prowling around me. She’s down to earth.
We order our meals and enjoy some wine. We talk about anything and everything. I find out that she hates fish and doesn’t have a specific favorite food. It all depends what she’s in the mood for that day. I also find out she’s a coffee addict.
We spend the rest of the meal eating and talking, like a normal couple.

Chapter Thirty Eight
Kristine~
I can’t believe how much things have changed in a week. Garrett actually seems to be a very nice man. Okay, more than nice, but I’m not willing to admit that to myself yet.
Justin and Riza are coming over. They said they’d bring Chinese so we don’t have to worry about dinner. We just have to take care of the wine. I pause as I’m taking out wine glasses and plates – when did Garrett and I become a we?
I glance up at the bedroom and I have a perfect view of Garrett while he’s getting dressed. He just got out of the shower and is fastening a belt. The jeans hang low on his waist. My eyes travel up from that perfect V to his muscled chest. There are still drops of water on his chest and shoulders. His hair looks almost black. I swallow hard. It’s the first time I see him like this. I can’t stop staring as he pulls a black t-shirt over his head.
He turns and he catches me staring. Shit!
“What?” he asks, a slow smile forming on his face.
“Nothing!” I quickly try to cover while dying of embarrassment inside. I’m sure he can see the blush on my face.
“That’s not a nothing,” he says. I can see the glint in his eyes from down here. He comes down the stairs and it almost looks like he’s prowling toward me. I grip the glass in my hand tighter as nervous anticipation floods me. He takes the glass from me. “If you hold that any tighter it’s going to shatter and we can’t have you cutting yourself.”
I take a step back but he keeps coming until I’m stuck between his hard body and the counter. He tilts his head and catches my eyes. “Now tell me why you were looking at me like that.”
I gulp down a deep breath. Oh dear! Here goes nothing. “I was just thinking,” I start to twist my hands together, fidgeting to ease my nerves, “that I’ve never seen you.” I let out a nervous little laugh and wave a hand through the air. He takes my hand and stops me from fidgeting any further.
“What do you mean?” he looks a little confused and I hate to spell this out to him.
“I’m trying to say that…” I suck in a deep breath and then just blurt it all out. “You’ve seen me. I mean you’ve seen all of me. You’re the only person that’s ever seen … you know …me like that … and I haven’t seen you. I just thought it’s weird, considering all the things we’ve done. You always kept your clothes on, so when I looked up just now and saw you … you know?” I’m starting to confuse myself with this rant, forgetting what it’s all about.
“I’m really confused. You’ve had sex before, surely those men saw you naked?”
I start to slowly shake my head. “Nope. The few times it happened it was dark. They didn’t bother putting the light on.”
I see the stunned surprise on his face and wonder if I should rather have kept this to myself.
“So you’re telling me,” he places his hands on either side of me, resting them on the counter. He leans in closer until I feel his breath on my lips, “I was the first to see you naked?”
I nod. He’s too close to me to try and squeak out an answer.
“You’re saying,” he leans in even closer and brushes his mouth against mine. He keeps going, placing soft kisses along my jaw, “you’ve never seen a naked man?”
He gets to my neck and bites me softly. I moan my answer to him, “If you don’t count those shows we watched before we we’re taken, then no.” I feel liquid heat flushing through my body and to keep myself standing, I grab hold of his shirt.
A shrill ringing noise makes him pull away from me. “That must be Justin,” he says, his voice hoarse from hopefully feeling the same need as me. He starts toward the door but before he opens it, he looks back to me. “We’ll finish this conversation later.”
Embarrassed by what just happened, I grab a dishcloth and start to wipe the glasses and plates, making sure they’re shining.
I hear Justin and Riza greeting Garrett, and then Riza shrieks. She runs my way, holding her arms wide open. We hug, just holding each other for a moment. When she pulls back, she has a wide smile on her face. Then she pops her left hand under my nose. “Just look!”
