Breaking the Play boy′s Curse(26)

Draven grimaced. “Yeah. You gonna be okay?”

“I’ll help him,” Abbott stated, appearing at their side.

After a nod from Draven, and a toe-curling kiss that acted as a great distraction from his pain, Vail’s lover headed toward Ricky.

“You’ve done well for yourself, Vail,” Abbott said softly, slipping an arm around his blanket-wrapped waist. “I’m proud of you.”

Vail smiled, pleased by his father’s words. “Thanks, Dad,” he said.

“You chose a very unorthodox pack, and ended up with an even more unorthodox mate, but it suits you,” Abbott commented as he helped Vail toward Sam.

“I know it wasn’t what you would have wanted for me, but they’re good people.”

“That they are,” Abbott replied. He squeezed Vail’s waist. “And all I actually want is for you to be happy.”

Vail paused and smiled at his father. “I am happy, Dad.”

His father stared into his eyes for several seconds, as if determining the truth, then nodded. “Good.” He got them moving again. “Let’s get you fixed up, so you can get back to your mate.”

Grinning at Draven’s back, he watched his lover rest a hand on Ricky’s shoulder and speak to him earnestly. Ricky seemed to begin to calm, although his gaze constantly darted around to look at the people filling the clearly. Vail knew the guy had a lot to accept.

Vail remembered his father’s words as Abbott urged him forward again, and he found he liked his dad’s idea very much. He wanted to find a bed and curl up with Draven for several days, but first, he had to get well.

“That’s a damn good idea,” Vail said, grinning, already looking forward to all the ways he was going to express his love to Draven. Now that his family’s curse was broken, nothing sounded better.
