Breaking the Play boy′s Curse(13)

He nuzzled his cheek against Vail’s, knowing his beloved’s wolf would appreciate it. Being a vampire and warlock, Draven had made it his mission to know particulars about other paranormal species. He wanted his shifter mate calm for his next words.

“I understand that you’re a bit…scared of all the changes being thrust upon you. It’s not surprising, really,” Draven said. “You never thought you’d be able to keep someone for yourself. Actually find your mate. And if you did find your mate, you never expected to be able to claim him.” He rested his forehead against Vail’s. “You are experiencing anxiety because of all these sudden changes. It’s understandable.”

Vail stared at him blankly for several seconds, his body tense. Draven waited patiently, even though he didn’t want to, waiting for some sign from the shifter. Finally, Vail heaved a sigh and sagged against him. “I’ve been telling myself that I didn’t want a mate for so long…” he whispered hoarsely.

Draven liked that Vail was willing to listen to him. He lifted his head, then bumped it back against Vail’s. He grinned. “I appreciate that you’re willing to share your thoughts. That’s a start.”

He allowed his fingers to delve into Vail’s crack and trace his hole. Oozing fluid made it easy to slip his finger into him to his first knuckle and back out, then he did it again. “God, that’s sexy. I want to sink my cock back in your ass, using my cum as lube.”

Vail moaned, rocking his hips and rubbing his half-hard dick against his hip. Before he could say more, the trill of his phone caught his attention, the sound muffled through his pants pocket.

Draven groaned. “Son-of-a-bitch!” he growled, drawing away.

“What is it?” Vail asked, worry filling his voice as he followed Draven back into the room.

“The girl. Damn, I thought this call would come later.” He glanced at his watch and his brows shot up. “Never mind, it’s an hour later than I thought,” he admitted.

Grabbing his phone, he held it to his ear. “Mansetti here.”

“We got a tip,” Ricky stated without greeting. “There’s an abandoned home on Gormick Street. I’m guessing the caller was a kid breaking in for a quickie with his date, but he says he heard crying coming from what was supposed to be an empty home. We have a warrant to search the place for Matilda.”

“I’m on my way,” Draven replied. Flipping the phone closed, he turned and grabbed his pants. “I’m sorry, lover,” he said, glancing Vail’s way. “There’s a case I’m working on of a missing girl. She’s going to be found this evening at an abandoned home on Gormick Street. I need to be there.”

“How do you know?” Vail asked, settling on the side of the bed.

Draven appreciated his mate’s lack of modesty and looked his fill as he pulled on his jeans. Once he’d pulled his shirt back on, he grimaced. “Visions, remember? The ones where I can’t do anything right away are the ones that suck,” he admitted. Picking up his coat, he paused and strode back to Vail. Burying his hand in the shifter’s short dark hair, he tilted Vail’s head back and took his mouth in a thorough claiming. After ending the kiss, he said, “I’d like to come back here tonight, if that’s okay. I’d like to talk some more.” He nipped his lover’s lip and grinned. “Maybe fuck again.”

Vail grabbed his coat and kissed him back, murmuring against his lips, “Yeah. Yeah, I’d like that.”

Chapter Six

After a shower, Vail headed downstairs to find some dinner. He figured he’d missed eating with the guys, but that’d been his plan. He wasn’t ready to be bombarded by questions quite yet. He was still assimilating all the changes himself.

While he was rummaging through the fridge, Adam walked in. The white tiger shifter greeted him with a nod, then leaned over his shoulder and grabbed a beer. When he straightened, he muttered, “Congrats.”

Vail frowned and shut the door, setting the Chinese take-out container on the counter. “You okay?” he asked, eyeing his friend. The man looked seriously…depressed.

Adam grimaced. “Awe, I don’t want to rain on your parade, man. I’m just...” He shrugged and took a swig of his beer. From the smell of the man, this wasn’t the first couple he’d had this evening.

“Just what?” Vail asked, concerned. It wasn’t often he saw the big, friendly shifter down.

“Eh, it’s nothing,” Adam said, putting him off. “I just need to get laid, that’s all.”
