Billionaires and Baby Rattles(27)
“Grandfather had these made when Easton and I were born. I remember Dad telling us how mad Mom was because Grandfather wanted us to play with them and she refused to have her sons shoving silver metal in their mouths.” His face softened with the memory when he spoke. “Instead we got to chew plastic rattles and toys like normal children, and Mom put these away for us to pass down to out children.”
“But don’t you want to save this for our first child…together?” Mya asked.
“This is our first child. I’m this baby’s father, Mya, and this belongs to him or her to pass down to their children,” Ethan explained.
“Oh you’re going to make me cry,” she whispered and felt her eyes begin to tear up. “I’m going to love you and make a family with the most amazing man in the world.”
“Definitely two more.” He looked at her with eyes alight with happiness.
“Okay.” Mya smiled as he came back to lie beside her. She kissed him, and her desire simmered again.
Mya took his hand brazenly and placed it on her sex as she widened her legs in invitation. His fingers ran against her clit and then sank into her gently, causing her to moan in pleasure. Mya let herself succumb into the kiss and be swept away by passion and love. Tomorrow would bring its own troubles, but until sunrise, this was still their honeymoon night.
Chapter Six
Two weeks later the shit storm was still coming, and Ethan was dealing with the fallout. He had to turn himself in to the police for the alleged assault of Lurlene Purdy. But after only three hours at the precinct, he was sent home on his own recognizance. The cameras were outside as he arrived, and they took so many pictures the flashes could have given anyone seizures. Mya was with him and held his hand all the way. He never saw a cell, but for those hours, she sat beside him on a hard bench. Occasionally she rubbed her belly if the baby moved. The Boston police were more than gracious, even offering to find Mya chocolate milk and a sandwich if she was hungry. Together they were a united front, and the charges wouldn’t stick. Both Mya and Robin could verify that he was home early, and there were more than enough witnesses to prove he was at work all day. Her story didn’t match up with his timeline. Being arrested was a formality until they cops could prove Lurlene was lying. Kyle was locked up and wanted a reduced sentence. He promised to give a written affidavit to the fact Lurlene was involved in his trying to extort money from Ethan.
Then she’d be the one facing charges for filing a false report and a slew of other charges. Ethan wanted to send her back to the redneck town she came from, ashamed, but putting her in jail would be just as good. She got what she wanted, and that was a media frenzy. With Mya by his side, they faced the yelled questions and the constant pictures being snapped.
At night, they watched old movies or anything other than the news or entertainment channel. They decided to keep their home gossip-free. Instead, they focused on being in love and getting the nursery ready. Between Mya, Robin, and Ethan, they were creating the perfect nursery.
Right now, he was looking at her every once in a while as they drove to her doctor’s appointment. It was the day they could find out the baby’s sex. They were indecisive on if they wanted to know, so had decided that instinct would tell them which way to go when the time came.
“Are you okay?” he asked.
“I’m perfect.” Mya smiled at him. His heart always skipped a beat when she did.
Ethan tried to take a different route each time they left the house. He didn’t want the newshounds to figure out which doctor she was seeing. There were a few hundred obstetrics doctors in Boston. They couldn’t stake them all out looking for another picture, another big payday. Dr. Keen even graciously allowed them to come in early, before the practice actually opened, or late, when it was closed. Someone may let it slip that she was in a waiting room with them, and then their peace would be gone.
Dr. Keen was waiting for them at the side entrance and let them in at six thirty in the morning.
“Good morning, you two.” Dr. Keen smiled. “I’d offer you coffee, but Lulu is the only one that can program that damn machine.”
“We’re just glad that you are doing this for us,” Ethan said gratefully. “Mya doesn’t need more stress coming at her from the paparazzi.”#p#分页标题#e#
“Well, her file is locked in my office, and all tests will be seen only by me,” Dr. Keen explained. “Let’s get started with weight and blood pressure.”
“I’ve been feeling a bit dizzy every once in a while,” Mya admitted. “Don’t frown at me, Ethan. It could just be low sugar levels or me getting up too quickly.”
