Babysitter Wanted(14)

Andrew runs a bath and we get in the water together. As I lie in his arms under the hot soapy water, he runs his hand over my stomach. "I love you," he says. "Did I already say that?"

And I laugh and say it back because you can never hear those words enough. He says them a whole lot.

Lying back in the warm water, I think back to when I arrived in England and my plans then. How much everything changed in a few short weeks. But life is so good with Andrew and Lucy, I wouldn't want it any other way.

One year later



I didn't imagine when I picked up Melissa at Heathrow this would be the result. The four of us, together in our house. We didn't get planning permission but we found another place-a beautiful house on the other side of the village, without all the building disruption we would have had if we had extended. Thinking about it, that was the last thing to put Melissa through with the wedding, a little one to look after and another baby on the way.

Sam was born three months ago. Our son. A brother to our daughter Lucy. The adoption is going through now. We are a real family. With two kids, it's complete chaos at home, despite how great Melissa is with them. But it's happy chaos. I couldn't ask for anything else. It's how I want life to be. Together. Forever. Me and my beautiful wife and two beautiful kids.
