All In:Playing the Fool(2)

"Hell yes!"

I don't know if it was his suit or what, but Joe somehow got us into the  roped off area. We'd only been sitting at our table for a few minutes  when the beautiful blonde I'd been drooling over earlier appeared. She  sat down at one of the empty booths a little further down from ours,  drinking a glass of some bright red, fruity looking cocktail.  Surprisingly, she was all alone and looking sort of sad. Hell, it was  now or never if I wanted to take a shot in the dark, so I stood up to  head over, leaving Joe sulking.

After I'd almost reached her table I realized I didn't know what the  fuck I was going to say. "Can I buy you a drink?" was too cheesy, and  she already had one. "What's a beautiful woman like yourself doing  sitting alone?" sounded ridiculous coming from me, since I was anything  but smooth. I couldn't ask her to dance since I had two left feet and  danced like the rhythmic challenged white boy that I was. I wanted to  say something that would flatter her and cheer her up.

A stupid idea finally popped into my head. I was going all in, and  either it'd work or I'd make a complete fool of myself and go home  alone. After seeing her, no other woman in this place would do tonight.  I'd rather talk to her and leave in defeat than fuck all the other women  in the building.

Reaching into the pocket of my khakis, I pulled my cell phone out and flipped it to the camera application.

"Excuse me, but do you mind if I take your picture?" I asked her over  the thumping club beat, causing her blonde eyebrows to shoot up in  surprise. She was even more stunning up close.

"What? Why?" she asked, her frown deepening.

"So that I can have proof that the woman of my dreams actually exists."

A smile finally stretched across her gorgeous face when she gave a soft  laugh. It was one of the sweetest damned sounds I'd ever heard.

I tapped the screen on my phone to quickly capture the moment, and then  turned it around, holding it out to show her. "You're even more  beautiful when you smile."

"And you are adorable," she said, still flashing her perfect smile. I  thought I was going to pass the fuck out when she didn't instantly  dismiss me.

"So, can I keep your picture or are you going to make me delete it?" I asked seriously.

She tilted her blonde head to the side and thought about it. Strumming  her perfectly manicured nails on the tiny table in front of her, she  continued appraising me from head to toe for a few more seconds before  she responded. "I guess you can keep it."

"Thanks," I said, and then there was nothing but silence between the two  of us while the music of the club blared on. I glanced back over to  where Joe was still sitting. It looked like he was arguing with himself,  so I'd better get back. Besides, I wasn't going to embarrass myself  further by begging the woman to talk to me.

"So that's it?" the gorgeous woman asked.

"Ah, what?" I asked looking back down at her. She was so stunning every thought in my head suddenly scattered.

"I saw you staring at me while I was dancing, and then you waltz over  here hitting me with the sweetest pickup line I've ever heard, and  that's it?"

I couldn't help my grin after she called me out, and I felt my cheeks  warm. "Pretty much," I admitted, rubbing a hand over the back of my  burning neck as I thought it over. Nope, couldn't come up with a damn  thing.

"I have to admit, I'm a little disappointed," she said with a sigh, re-crossing her long perfect legs in front of her.

"Well, I can't just leave you sitting here all alone and disappointed.  You want to join me and my friend? He's the one at the moment going all  schizoid over there," I nodded toward Joe. "But I swear he's harmless."

"Sure," she said right away, shocking the shit out of me. "The friends I  came with both bailed on me for guys. I've only been back in town for  two damn days and they just picked men they don't know over me."

"That's a shame," I told her, silently grateful to her shitty friends.  Abandoning her fruity drink, she stood up, putting her incredible body  so close to mine that I could smell the sweet scent of cherries on her.  And fuck if I wouldn't give anything to taste some of her pie. The  thought made me blush even harder.

In her tall, fuck-me heels she was only a few inches shorter than me. I  tried not to look down, I really did. It was impossible for my eyes to  resist the gravitational pull given off by the line of skin showing  between her two perky breasts.

I figure most men probably prefer huge tits pressed together to form ass  crack cleavage. Me on the other hand, I've always had a thing for the  few inches of flat expanse between the tits of lean women, showing just a  teasing hint of the smooth swells on each side.

"Do I need to remind you where my eyes are?" she asked.

When I looked back up at her face she was smirking.

"Nope, I think I just found them again," I told her with a smile,  looking into her beautiful navy blue eyes. They were almost the exact  same color as her dress. She laughed, showing she was unoffended and  walked around me towards our table, which was awesome since it gave me a  chance to check out her incredible ass. My hands trembled with the urge  to reach out and touch her sexy perfection anywhere. Everywhere.

Joe glanced up as she approached our table, and seemed to finally find  his composure again when he flashed her a smile. I'd kill that SOB if he  hit on her. Her. Damn, I didn't even know her name.

I jogged to catch up to her and made the introductions. "I'm Will by the way. This is Joe, and I didn't catch your name."

"Lacy," she said sliding into the black crescent shaped leather booth  beside Joe. I slid in next, sandwiching her between us. "Let me guess,  you're an attorney?" she asked Joe. He glanced over at me, looking just  as surprised as I was at her quick and accurate assessment.

"Yeah, I am. How'd you know?" he asked with a big grin.

Lacy narrowed her eyes as she leaned back to look him over. "You have  that sleazy, up to no good look about you," she finally responded.  Laughter burst from me at the same time Joe's mouth fell open.

"You're oh for two tonight with beautiful women, Joe."

"Well damn," he replied, rubbing his jaw like she'd just sucker punched  him. "I don't know about the sleazy part, but I am usually up to no  good," he joked. "What about him, what do you think he does for a  living?" Joe asked, nodding to me and throwing back his beer to hide his  smile. The asshole knew he was putting me in a tough spot, either  telling her the truth or playing up the rich lie.

Lacy turned her delicious body towards mine, running her index finger  over her lips while she carefully examined me. My eyes couldn't help but  follow the motion of that finger, becoming hypnotized as I imagined  those pink pouty lips somewhere else.

"Something with computers?" she finally asked.

"I'll be damned! The woman's good," Joe exclaimed, echoing my thoughts.  It was also concerning. It meant she'd probably see right through my  bullshit.

"Am I right?" she asked with a smile, tossing her long hair as she looked back and forth between us, waiting for our response.

"The man's a computer genius," Joe exaggerated, and I rolled my eyes.

"No, I'm not."

"Yeah, I could see that," Lacy said with her eyes still appraising me.  "The cute glasses make you look smart, but it's what's behind them that  proves the theory."

"You are an exceptionally observant, and even more beautiful woman,  Lacy," Joe leaned in and told her, making me want to kick him. "And you  should definitely ask Will to show you his Porsche."

Ah, fuck. I glared at Joe until Lacy turned her attention back to me. Was the bastard trying to screw me over?

"You drive a Porsche?" she asked.

"Uh-huh," I muttered. It was technically true. I was driving a Porsche tonight, I just didn't own it.

"Joe, don't you have a ball busting prosecutor to go after?" I asked,  trying to get rid of him. "That cute little redhead is probably dancing  with some asshole by now. Her tongue down his throat, his hand on her  ass. I'd hate for you to-"

"Later," he said, jumping up out of the booth, and then thankfully he was gone.

"So, what about you? What do you do?" I asked Lacy, brushing my thigh  against hers. I was surprised by the fact that she didn't slide over to  the empty space Joe had just vacated to put distance between us.

"I just graduated from Kinston with a degree in journalism. My dad  wanted me to move back here and try to find a job locally, but I'm  hoping to snag a job in a bigger city, eventually on a national  network."

"Wow. I could definitely see you as a reporter, calling out politicians on their bullshit."

She laughed and swept her long strawberry blonde hair over her shoulder.  "That's exactly what I want to do, eventually. But do you want to hear  what I'd like to do right now?" she asked, shifting towards me. She  propped one of her elbow's on the top of the booth, resting her knuckles  against her chin. God, she was so damn beautiful.
