Zeke's Rule(35)

“Some would say they’re the same thing.”

Daniella sighed, pulling out a peanut butter pie from the fridge. “It’s not the same thing.”

“You think I’m good enough for her.”

“You’re more than good enough for her. You’re even good enough for your grandbaby.” Daniella took his hand and placed it over her stomach. “I know this is really hard for you to deal with, and I get it. You’re going to make an awesome grandfather.”

Her stomach was only slightly rounded, but the protective feeling that overcame him had him pulling Daniella into his arms. “No matter what time it is or what day, you will call me, right?”

“When I give birth?”

“For anything. If you need anything, and you can’t get a hold of Shakes, you will call me. I don’t want to be left out of our family.”

“I won’t leave you out, Dad. I’m determined now more than ever that I’m going to make this work. This is our family, and I love you.”

He kissed Daniella’s head, and together they made their way into the sitting room. Alessandria looked happy to see him, and Shakes turned toward Daniella. Sitting beside his woman, he watched as Shakes embraced Daniella. The love between the couple was so clear for anyone to see.

Zeke wanted that, and he knew there was a chance he’d get to have that with Alessandria.

“What did you think?” Shakes asked.

“He was so happy. He loves her, and she loves him.” Daniella smiled, leaning against her husband as they sat in the oversized bathtub and he washed her naked body. She lived for these intimate moments where they were together, alone.

“It was kind of scary.”

“What?”

“Seeing your father all happy and playing the family man.”

“We’re not part of his world anymore. I was thinking about it, and it must get lonely for him at times,” Daniella sighed.

“First, you do know you’ve got at least two guards on your at all times, right?”

“Yes. I know that. What’s second?”

“Second, he’s surrounded by people; there’s no way for him to be lonely.”

“He is surrounded by men and women who work for him. Alessandria isn’t a woman he’s paid to be around him. She’s there because she wants to be, and I like her. She’d be really good for him.” Daniella smiled up at her husband. “They’re going to have a wedding, I can feel it.”#p#分页标题#e#

“How does it feel to have your stepmom being close in age?”

She slapped him on the arm. “Stop it. Alessandria is going to be a great friend.”

“If she’s friends with you then I know she’s going to be a lucky woman.”

Shakes stopped whatever she was going to say by taking her lips in a searing kiss.

Chapter Fifteen

Alessandria stood by the window in her room, a silk robe Zeke had given her when she’d first come here wrapped tightly around her nude body. The moon was full, the sky clear. The lighting around the grounds gave little glimpses of the night blooming flowers sporadically placed around the gardens. It was a beautiful piece of property, but this wasn’t her, wasn’t her life. Zeke cared for her, she knew that, but would he continue to want her once he’d had her?

And he’ll have me because I can’t think of anything else, because I want him like I want to breathe.

She didn’t know how long she stood there, but when she turned, she was surprised to see Zeke standing in the doorway. He wore nothing but a pair of slacks, the button undone, and his muscles on stark display. That dark hair that started below his navel and disappeared beneath his pants instantly had her blood pressure rising.

“What are you thinking about?” he asked in that deep, sensual, and commanding voice of his.

Alessandria licked her lips, not about to lie. “You. I was thinking about you and how much I want you.” She was feeling bold, feeling like things had gone slowly, that he’d let her heal, and how she wanted to be with him in every way. She couldn’t think about anything else now. Even her freedom took a backseat to her arousal.

Although she was nervous, she moved toward the center of the room before stopping. Keeping her focus on Zeke, she waited for a moment to see if he’d respond or move.

“I seem to think about you constantly.” He pushed away from the doorframe, his hands in his pants pockets, his big body moving toward her like he was a predator. “I find myself obsessed with you, Alessandria.” He was a foot from her now, his gaze searching her face. “I find myself in love with you.”
