ZERO(The Skulls, 6)(71)
Tiny made her tell each man what she did. Their arms going around her would stay with her forever.
“You’re one of us now,” Lash said. “The club will protect you always.”
“I’m going to marry Zero,” she said.
“Even without being his old lady, you’d still be one of the club and under our protection.”
She smiled and followed Tiny toward Whizz’s room.
Walking into the room, she held back a gasp at the mess before her. His hands and feet were covered in bandages. His face was also covered, and he was hooked up to several machines.
“Hey,” Tiny said, approaching the bed. “How are you doing?”
“I’m dancing for joy,” Whizz said.
His gaze fell on her. Going to him, she placed a hand gently against his face. She would never turn away from this man. “I killed him,” she said.
“What?”
“I shot his head right off, and I made him hurt for several minutes.” She licked her lips, staring into his eyes. “I know it doesn’t give you anything, but I promise you, Whizz, he hurt before he died.”
“Thank you.”
“I’ll come and visit you soon.”
She left the bedroom giving Tiny time with the other man. Sitting in the reception she waited for the doctor to tell her about Zero’s progress. A couple of hours later she was being led into another private room. He was sitting up in bed.
When he opened his arms she went to him, climbing up on the bed to hold him.
“Do I repulse you now?” she asked.
“You make me proud. I knew you’d take him out. I trusted you to do it. He killed your brother and hurt people. I’m not repulsed by you. You’re going to be my wife.”
She smiled, resting her head against his chest.
“Don’t leave me,” she said.
“Baby, you’re going to be begging for some privacy.”
Smiling, she didn’t move from that position, holding onto him to give her the warmth she needed.
Chapter Fifteen
Five months later
Zero looked out of the summer house to see Prue walking across the clear beach with the blue ocean at her back. They were married and finally on their honeymoon after the chaos Alan had put them through. Zero circled the ring on his finger, feeling complete for once in his life. With Alan’s presence in their life, the club had suffered in ways he didn’t want to think about on this time with his wife.
Whizz wasn’t the same. He left hospital one month after the attack and had Sandy deal with his wounds. Where Zero had put a blade in Alan’s back, the other man had come up with another way of torturing Whizz. Now the other man never left the club without a weapon. He didn’t drink, and he wouldn’t be around new people who visited the club. He had moved in with Killer and Kelsey, not being able to handle club life.
One night before Whizz had moved out, Zero had woken up to hear terrified screams. He and Prue had gone to Whizz’s room and it took them a long time to bring him out of the nightmare. Throughout the night, Zero offered to watch over him while Prue held him in her arms, trying to send the demons away. He wasn’t jealous of the other man. Nothing about Whizz was sexual.
Killer had even told him that Whizz would share his and Kelsey’s bed if the nights got too hard. It wasn’t about sex. They were all simply caring for the man who had been taken and tortured.
Sophia had made it out of the hospital in one piece. Nothing was damaged with her, but she was scared. The baby had been lost during the attack, but the doctors said she was fine for other children. She had begged Nash and all of the men to teach her self-defense. All of the women requested it. With Prue’s help, they were able to take care of themselves. To make sure they could handle themselves Nash had recreated that night where Sophia was stabbed. They were all present as Nash attacked Sophia from behind and she took him out with her fists. They had applauded her strength, and Nash spent the rest of the night comforting a teary-eyed woman. None of the women were going to be victims again.
Zero stared down at the photo Lash had sent. Angel had woken up from her coma three days after Whizz was admitted. She had remembered everything that happened and had the use of her legs. The doctors had been concerned about her legs with the bullet lodging close to her spine.
She made a full recovery with the club supporting her every step of the way. The innocent young woman had earned all of their respect. She had stood in front of a bullet and almost died for them. Lash stayed for Zero’s wedding at Angel’s request, but now he was in Italy enjoying a much needed vacation.
The picture on Zero’s phone was of Angel, their son, and Lash, wrapping his arms around all of them.
