She’d told them no that morning after the amber moon had passed. Not because she didn’t love them. God knew she loved them more than she’d thought humanly possible. But then again, it wasn’t just humanly possible. Not with her men being werewolves. Still, she’d told them that she’d wanted to get to know them more on a day-to-day basis, without having that blasted amber moon hanging over them, influencing them. They’d been stunned, but they’d accepted her decision.
That had been a month earlier, and thanks to Milly’s generosity, she’d lived rent free in Milly’s apartment. A part of her thought it was silly to delay the inevitable. After all, she’d never leave them. But another part of her had enjoyed the “dates” they’d taken her on.
The people of Forever had welcomed her with open arms and already referred to her as “Grant and the Thorne boys’ mate.” She and Milly had formed a fast friendship. When Brig had finally convinced her to say farewell to her beloved car, Sally, the men had shown up the next day with a brand-new Bug, who she’d christened Whitney after one of her favorite singers, the late Whitney Houston.
She lounged next to Lance on the couch and watched as Grant and Duncan argued the finer points of which brand of beer tasted better.
“What if I wanted to say yes?”
Their argument died a quick death. Grant glanced at each of his friends before asking. “Are you saying you’re ready to come home with us?”
“I am.” She cut their whoops of joy short with one finger lifted into the air. “On two conditions.”
“Name them.” Lance toyed with her hair. It was a habit he’d adopted since that first morning together.
“Condition One. I get to ride Star every day, but I don’t have to shovel the manure out of her stall.”
Duncan laughed. “No problem. Lance will do that for you.”
“Hey.” But he still chuckled. “Okay. Sure. What’s the next condition?”
She put on a sultry expression. “Condition Two. At least once a month, I get to—” She paused, loving the expectant expressions.
“Yeah? Go on,” urged Grant.
“Once a month, I get to chain you three in the cellar and have my way with you.”
“Hell, yeah!” Grant pulled her to her feet and whirled her around.
“Deal!” shouted Lance.
Duncan pulled her out of Grant’s arms. “We agree. But we have one condition you have to meet.”
“Fuck you, man.” Lance tugged her away. “Don’t blow this.”
“No, it’s okay.” She faced Duncan. “Say it. What do you want?”
Duncan licked his lips, then shifted enough to bring out his fangs. “We want to make you ours. All the way, as our werewolf mate.”
She acted like he’d shocked her, but she couldn’t pretend for long. She’d thought about it over the past month and had made her decision. “Can you do it tonight?”
Grant picked her up and tossed her over his shoulder. “Let’s go, men, before she changes her mind.”
She giggled as Lance swung the door opened. He and Duncan followed behind them as Grant carried her to his pickup and threw her into the back. The moon, back to its true white-gray color, shone brightly overhead.
