Wolfe’s den(13)

By:C.M. Steele

It was good to see that he didn’t talk to her unless forced, and I was glad he told her the truth. I would never hurt her. She was mine, to love and protect. I hoped she caved to me as easily and passionately as she did in my dreams.

The next year or so was going to age me big time. I needed to speak to my siblings about all the shit Creed told me. I heard her go back to her room, and then once she closed the door my brother acknowledged my presence.

“Bro, I see you came back early. Why did you hide in the shadows?” he said just above a whisper. Since we could hear from far distances we didn’t need to speak loudly.

“I didn’t want to interrupt a tender moment,” I growled and dragged him into the other room.

“Please, she’s your mate. You know we only have one mate. If she’s yours, she can’t be mine.”

“No, she can see whoever she wishes. She can mate with me and still search for another,” I snarled in pure jealousy.

“What?!” he shouted, freaking out.

“Yes, it’s one of the downsides to her being a human.”

“Yeah, but I can’t be with her anyway.”

“But she could fall in love with you,” I admitted.

“Fate wouldn’t be that cruel to you,” he said as he gripped my arm in camaraderie.

“So you were able to find something out about it?” Chloe asked as she slowly entered the room.

“Yes, Creed informed me about a lot.” I spent the next five minutes filling them in on the issues with our mating and future.

“Hunter, you know we’ll have your back any time you need it.”

“Thank you, Gage. It means a lot.”

“Just so you know, Rocky was here today. He came as we walked up the steps. He was very interested in Catherine. We told him that you hired her as your manager,” Chloe informed me. I could already tell because his scent still lingered in the air.

“Well, like Creed said, I can’t hide our relationship. They’ll smell me on her and her on me. So despite the danger, I don’t want to deny our relationship.”

“That’s true, but our thing was because you weren’t here. She is starting to figure out that you want her for more than an employee.”

“She’ll learn it tomorrow. I can’t hide who I am with her,” I admitted. I could smell her and I knew she was in the shower. It was all I could do to fight my beast and rush into the shower to claim her.

“I’m going to shower and head to bed. I will see you tomorrow. You can leave if you want.”

Gage looked at Chloe and gave her a nod. “We’ll see you later, Hunter.”

“You’re going back to your place.”

“Yes, just in case you can’t fight your beast. Remember, the dreams were always at night. We don’t need to hear you mate.”

“Thanks. I don’t want you to hear it either,” I chuckled.

I showered then heard her roaming the room. Then I heard her enter mine. I showered down the hall because I didn’t want to freak her out that I was home. The moment I heard her climb into the bed I knew I had to make my move.

The room was dark, but it was nothing for me. I could make out every feature on her body as she laid with her legs slightly bent on the bed. Her body called to me to possess. The curves were so unbelievable. I didn’t know what I wanted to touch first, but I knew I would touch every part of her body. She had a beautiful smile on her face. Her curly brown hair framed her face, and the pale moonlight highlighted her fair skin. Then I heard her whisper, “This must be a dream.”

I realized then, she had the same dreams. “It’s not a dream, my Catherine.”

Her mouth opened slightly in shock. “Oh my, I’ll go back to my bed. I didn’t think you’d be back.”

“Please don’t go back to the other room. This is your bed now,” I growled as I stalked toward the bed.

“Hunter,” she softly purred as I approached.

“I’m going to spend my life worshipping you, my precious gift,” I promised as I climbed onto the bed, parting her thighs to rest my toweled lower body as I leaned over her. In my dreams, I didn’t kiss her first, but her opened, parted lips that sighed just from my light touch begged to be tasted.

“Catherine,” I whispered before I captured her lips. What started as a slow kiss turned into a full blown warning of what was to come. I growled, “I need you, Catherine. Tell me you want this. You want to be mine.”

“I don’t understand this, but I want you, too,” she admitted huskily. My body took her words as the go ahead I needed, my wolf howled inside, demanding I claim my mate.
