When You Know It’s Real(55)

By:KC Mills

“The fuck, Nonie? Why you grabbing me like that. You gon’ make me break my damn neck. Do you see these heels, hoe?” Kizzie snatched away from me and straightened her dress.

“Your big ass mouth was about to get me caught up,” I said, looking back over my shoulder.

I didn't see Laken, so it was likely he didn't hear her, thank God.

“Caught up, how? Your crazy ass man is over there,” she said, pointing to the bar where Jock and Siah were laughing about something.

“Not by Siah, by Laken.”

“Really, Nonie? You survived the night without having those two fools kill each other, so I know you’re not dumb enough to try and talk to him now.”

“No hoe, I was listening to a conversation that he was having.”

Kizzie looked at me course. “About what?”

“About…”

“Hey beautiful, I just took care of the bill, so everything is handled. I appreciate all your hard work and I hope you let me personally thank you,” Laken said, scaring the shit out of me when he walked up on me and Kizzie.

“No, I told you. This was just business, and you don't need to thank me. You paid me, and that’s good enough,” I said, looking over at the bar.

Sure enough, Siah’s eyes were on me. I took a step back from Laken, but that didn’t change things. Siah still looked pissed and Laken wasn't letting up. He gripped the back of my neck with one hand while he used the other to pull me into his body. He looked right at Siah and that was all it took to set him off. He had been patient all night, more than I had given him credit for, but seeing the way Laken had just handled me wasn't going to fly.

I pulled away from Laken just as Siah made it to us. I could see him as he moved and his gun was already in his hand. His crazy ass didn't care that we were in a club full of people, most of whom were Laken’s people since this was his event. Of course, Jock was right there with him.

“Muthafucker, I already warned you about this shit right here, didn’t I?”

Laken laughed and folded his arms across his chest. This nigga was either crazy or he had a death wish. “What you said was that she was not available, but I also told you that I would take that shit up with her. She hasn't said that she wasn't so in my opinion that makes her fair game.

“Is that right?” The look Siah gave me sent chills through my body. “Pretty, I think this nigga here is a little confused about your availability. You wanna clear that up for him.”

I glanced at Siah and then focused on Laken before I answered. “I told you this is just business, nothing else.”

“That don't sound like you’re not available, that just sounds like you’re reciting the transaction we made.”

This nigga was trying to get us both killed. Siah leaned in and planted his lips to mine before he turned back to Laken, who looked mad as hell that Siah had kissed me.

“She ain't available, my nigga.”

“That don't mean shit, trust me. If I want her I can have her. It's just a matter of time anyway.”

I needed to put an end to this before one of these fools got shot. I didn't want that on me, especially after what I just heard. “Look, I’m not available, so this little show isn’t necessary.”

“You felt real available when I kissed you, so what you’re saying now don't mean shit to me but that you scared of this nigga. You don't have to be though, because I got you, Pretty,” Laken said, mocking Siah.

That was the one thing that pushed him too far. His gun was cocked and pointed at Laken’s head so quick that I stepped back to make sure I wasn't in the way. Jock followed suit, and had his gun aimed at Laken too, which caused a few of his people to draw their weapons. I froze because I was out in the open with guns everywhere.

“Nigga, you must have a death wish or something, but trust me, I don't have a problem making that happen. The fuck you wanna do?”

“Siah, stop it. This club is full of people, and you’re holding a gun.” I looked around and we were quickly drawing a crowd. It was just a matter of time before security showed up, so I placed my hand on his arm, but he shoved me behind him.

“Nonie, get the fuck back,” he yelled, but kept his eyes on Laken.

At this point, I was desperate, so the next thing that flew out my mouth had better put an end to this nonsense. If there was any truth to the conversation I had overheard Laken having, it was about to help me shut these two idiots down. Laken might not give a fuck about killing family, but hopefully Siah would. At least enough that he wouldn't do it right here in a club full of people. I took a deep breath and let it fly.

“Siah, you can't shoot him, not in here, not like this.” I paused for a brief moment and then let the rest roll out my mouth before saying a silent prayer. “He’s your cousin.”
