Her Guardian Angel (Fire and Snow)(40)

She arched her brow at him before giggling.

"I'm a girl of simple tastes, Dominic. I love my fruit salad, especially when it's fresh, and especially when it comes with cream."

Dominic chuckled as he started the car and headed down the drive. After he drove out on the road, he worked his way up to fifth gear as quickly as possible so he could gently lay his hand on her thigh. It felt nice, like he was claiming possession of her.

"So, what do you think of Mum's ideas for Kelly?" he asked. He didn't want her getting too anxious about the night ahead, and he didn't want to let himself get nervous either.

"I think it all sounds great. I hadn't thought about school yet; getting my own house has been all I've been focused on. But she's right; Kelly is going to need some serious tutoring and help. Not only with the academic stuff but I don't think she's ever socialized much with anyone, let alone other teenagers. It's going to be one hell of journey for all of us."

Adele's voice sounded worried, but Dominic wasn't. He knew his mate was strong, definitely strong enough for this challenge. Plus she had plenty of help available.

"Yeah, there is a lot to do. But you're not alone, Adele. You have me. You have this whole town to support you. You know that, right? This community is great when it comes to helping out when someone most needs it; you'll see for yourself soon enough."

"Hmm, I'm learning that already. It's just hard to adjust to. I've been alone for so long. It's taking some time to adjust to having all these people who want to be in my life and learning to open up to them. Trust is hard for me."

"I know, beautiful. You won't ever be alone again. I promise you, I will never leave you alone."

He felt her gaze on him as he drove. He couldn't wait for her to believe his words; he didn't know how to get her to accept his promises so he just kept telling her. Eventually, she'd see by his actions that he meant his words. She was staring hard at him and thinking equally as hard. He could just about hear her brain ticking over.

"Don't think so hard, beautiful. Just accept it and relax."

"I keep expecting to wake up and this to all be a dream. You are too perfect. I just--I just don't feel like I deserve you." Her voice was small, quiet and confused.

"I'm real, Adele. I love you and I'm one hundred percent committed to you, forever. I will keep telling you until you believe me."

"I want to believe you. I really do."

Dominic brought her hand to his lips and kissed her palm before laying it against his cheek to nuzzle.

"You'll see, beautiful. I'll prove it to you with actions and words. Whatever it takes." He could hear the steel in his voice, but he couldn't help it. He was dead serious about Adele, and he needed her to understand he was in this forever.

Dominic could feel Adele's gaze on him. He could also feel when her mood changed from confused to aroused. Staring at him in the light from the passing street lights, Adele was now worked up. He could relate. He was already hard as steel at the thought about what would happen tonight and her eyes focusing on him were making him even hotter. At this rate, he'd be embarrassing himself by coming before the party began.

Up ahead he saw the drive to her place. He slowed the car and pulled up in front of the garage. He cut the engine then looked over at Adele. Hot damn, she was sexy. Her eyes were hooded in the darkness of the car, and he could hear her rapid breathing. The smell of her arousal increased as he watched her. She was as turned on as him. He ran a hand over the side of her face, holding her steady; he leaned over for a kiss. As soon as his lips touched hers, she parted hers for him, inviting him in. Without a moment's hesitation, he deepened the kiss, consuming her mouth until they were both breathless. He slowly pulled back and released her.

"I think we best move this inside, love."

Adele could barely function enough to get out the car after the passion-filled kiss Dominic had laid on her. He'd completely possessed her, dominated her. And she'd loved it. She managed to grab hold of her handbag, but the door handle was a different matter entirely. Her fingers simply refused to function. Within moments Dominic was there, opening the way for her. As she slid out, Dominic stepped up to her and she glided down his body until her feet hit the ground.

Her head, that had just started to clear, reeled as she found herself surrounded by his power and heat. Despite his strength, he gently cradled her against his hard body. If he hadn't been holding her when he kissed her again, she would have ended up on the ground as her knees buckled. She moaned into him; so turned on and they hadn't even made it inside the house yet! She nipped his bottom lip. He growled low and sexy, deep in his throat. She pulled back as much as she could in his tight embrace.
