Jessica’s Wolves(46)
“Oh, hon, you have no idea what you’ve done to me. I’ll never be the same again. I think part of my manliness got checked at the door when you entered my life. You’re likely to reduce me to tears I’m so happy.”
Charles pulled out of her and plopped beside them. “That’s for sure.”
Jessica groaned. “I was enjoying you inside me.”
“I couldn’t hold myself up like that any longer. My arms are mush.” Charles chuckled, which vibrated the bed and shook Jess, who was still wrapped tightly around Reese’s erection.
“Oh, shit.” Reese turned Jess’ face so she was looking at him again. “I’m so sorry.”
“For what?” She smiled. “That was the best two minutes of my life.”
“Two minutes, huh?” Charles smacked her on the ass. “I think we can surely improve on that.”
She grinned but looked back at Reese.
He swallowed, mentally punching himself. “I forgot to pull out.”
Chapter 13
Jessica’s face fell for just a second. She held her breath and slumped alongside Reese, his erection slipping from her. Squished between her mates, she exhaled slowly. God. What have I done? What if I’m pregnant?
Reese propped up on his elbow, his gaze intent. “If you are, we’ll deal with it.”
Jessica jerked. “You’re in my head.”
Charles laid a hand across her belly and rubbed. “True.”
“Shit.” She nibbled her lip. “It’s not for sure, right? I mean, just because I was ovulating and we had sex doesn’t mean I would get pregnant.”
“True,” Reese began, “but so what if you are? We’re mated now. We would be delighted. I for one would love to see you round with my child.”
“Me too, babe. We’d be right with you. You won’t be alone in this. Or in anything ever again.”
“Shit,” she repeated. “I’m not ready to be a mother.” Damn. She gripped the sheets with her fists and glared at them, their no-big-deal attitude about her getting pregnant infuriating.
The men flinched at her mental rage.
“Oh, I don’t think I like you two in my head.” Would she ever have another private thought again? Jessica pondered the sometimes-intimate secret things that went through her mind on occasion and shivered. Lordy.
“Mmm.” Reese kissed her on the nose. “You will learn to block us but hopefully not before we get to hear some of those dirty, private thoughts.”
“Ugh.” She groaned. Great. Just what she needed. Two men listening in on her every thought.
The bed dipped next to her, and Charles’ warmth disappeared.
Jessica’s eyes closed. She was so tired. And incredibly emotional all of a sudden. Too much stress for one weekend.
A warm cloth landed on her thigh, and she just hummed a low tone of contentment. The men spread her legs and wiped her clean.
Reese’s head landed next to hers, and he stroked her cheek. “Sleep now. We’ll deal with whatever challenges pop up tomorrow.”
She didn’t need to be told twice. She was only barely aware of both men snuggling up on her sides and surrounding her with their warmth and love.
* * * *
Gunshots rang out. Dozens of them. Over and over they fired, making Jessica jerk with each intonation. She hated that sound. The sound of death. She curled into a tight ball. Maybe they wouldn’t see her.
“Jess.” Someone was calling her name. Mr. Gregor? Her neighbor? She needed to open the door. Let him in. He wasn’t the bad guy. But she couldn’t move. She was frozen.
“Jess.” The voice was louder this time, and a hand shook her shoulder. It didn’t sound like her neighbor. Had the bad guys somehow gotten inside? Were they going to kidnap her now? Or worse … shoot her like they’d shot her parents?
Hands were all over her now, and she was naked. Naked?
Her eyes popped open. Her heart pounded, sweat coating her skin.
“Jess, hon.” Reese stared into her face.
A dream. She’d had another nightmare. This one had been even worse than the last one.
“You were having a nightmare, babe.” Charles’ face inched into her view now. He brushed the hair from her forehead.
It was dark. Very dark. Late at night. But she could see perfectly in the dark. Always had.
“Sorry.” A shiver racked her body as her fight-or-flight sensation subsided.
“Don’t be sorry,” Charles continued. “We’re here for you. Want to talk about it?”
She shook her head. “Same thing as always.”
“Do you have these nightmares every night?” Reese laid a hand on her belly and soothed her. She stilled beneath his touch, relaxing with each passing moment.
