Either man turned and kissed her, on either cheek.
“So this is life, huh?” she asked with her face pointing at the ceiling. The gentle thop-thop of the ceiling fan cooling the sheen of sweat that covered her.
“We have to help the others,” Stone said. “But there’s time for that.”
“Right now we have to figure out life,” Fury said. “But to answer your question,” he kissed Claire again, softly. “I think this is life. If you’ll have it, that is.”
She sensed his grin from the upturn in his voice. Sliding an arm underneath each of her bears, Claire urged them closer until the three of them were in one big, half-furry pile. “Yeah,” she said, kissing Stone and then Fury and closing her eyes with a smile across her face. “Yeah, I think I can live with this.”
