Lost in Barbarian Space(60)
She sat up a little. “My job. I have another year on my contract with the Institute. And after that, if I come here, what would I do? I’m not made to sit around all day, Colm, being an artist, or taking care of babies.”
At the word babies, his eyes flared gold. His hand stroked over her breasts and down to her belly. “You’ll be a wonderful mother to our children.”
Just the thought of it ignited a deep kernel of want inside her.
“But I understand, my little warrior. We will have children when you are ready. I will talk to Kavon, but with so many outside visitors wanting to come to Markaria, having someone in security who understands them and the risks they might pose, would be invaluable.”
Excitement made her straighten. “You think he’ll agree?”
Colm smiled. “Yes.” He leaned forward and kissed her. “I think Markaria is ready for a female warrior.” He stroked a hand down her arm. “In the meantime, I would like to come with you while you finish your commitment to the Institute.”
Her eyes widened. “Really?”
He nodded. “My entire life, I thought I would not have the chance for adventure, a mate, a family—”
She wrapped her arms around him. “Colm.”
“But thanks to you, you’ve cured my sickness and given me a life.”
“You could do anything you wanted now, Colm. You’re sure—?”
He shook her gently. “You have given me more joy by agreeing to be my mate than I ever dreamed possible.”
She tightened her arms around him. “Then I can promise you amazing adventures, my warrior. And one hell of a life together.”
He pulled her into his lap and beneath her hip she felt him hardening.
“Oh yes, Honor. And on my vow as a warrior, I will protect you, honor you, and love you.”
“I love you, Colm. Never let me go.”
“I never will.”

Subject: Discovery of a Terran treasure hoard on a barbarian moon
The galaxy is abuzz with news of the latest find by one of the Galactic Institute of Historical Preservation’s expedition ships. A team from the Magellan has discovered an ancient Terran shipwreck on an ice moon of the barbarian world of Markaria just beyond the galaxy’s edge.
Reports say the hoard is packed full of Terran artifacts—including a magnificent collection of ancient weapons from old Earth. Director Niklas Phoenix gave a brief statement on the find and says while the bulk of the artifacts will stay on Markaria, the Markarian leaders are allowing a selection of the artifacts to be exhibited and studied at Institute museums across the galaxy.
“Credit for the find must go to Institute security agent, Agent Honor Brandall and her Markarian escort, Warrior Mal Kor,” Director Phoenix told the GBC. “They both risked their lives to find and secure the wreck of the Valhalla and her cargo.”
When probed about rumors that space pirates tried to steal the treasure, the director was less forthcoming. All he would add is that the Institute, and Markaria’s warriors, would protect any and all pieces of history found in Markarian space.
The final reports regarding the hoard is that Warrior Mal Kor and Agent Brandall have been joined in a Markarian bonding ceremony. It appears the Markarians are finding many benefits to being connected with the rest of the galaxy.
Stay tuned to GBC for more updates on Markarian space and for the first in breaking galaxy news.

Her team was under attack.
Elle Milton pressed her fingers to her small earpiece. “Squad Six, you have seven more raptors inbound from the east.” Her other hand gripped the edge of her comp screen, showing the enhanced drone feed.
She watched, her belly tight, as seven glowing red dots converged on the blue ones huddled together in the burned-out ruin of an office building in downtown Sydney. Each blue dot was a squad member and one of them was their leader.
