Raging Kane:The Wolfe Creek Series(13)

Her teeth grazed the flesh on my chest, sending tingling sensations down  my spine. With my hands cupping her face, I pulled her to meet my eyes.  The hunger was so intense, I involuntarily thrust harder into her. The  light of her eyes brightened and she started calling out my name. "Kane,  Kane."

We had shared one last kiss before I emptied out into her. I knew I  scored this time. I felt it. Our tired, sweaty bodies collapsed on the  bed in a heap of limp limbs. With her wrapped up in my arms, we fell  asleep.

I woke up to a rustling in the house. Carolyn was in my arms and the  kids weren't home. I jumped quietly out of bed, sniffed the air, and a  familiar stench hit my nostrils. My eyes darkened and my wolf was ready  for the hunt. It was a foul smell I could never forget. Daniel Danks was  in my home.

He's here? She asked silently.

I leaned over the bed and kissed her passionately before pulling away to  deal with the trash. Yes, but stay in this room and put some clothes  on. This will be over soon.

For Good.

I could smell his scent close. Locking the bedroom door, I exited out  the bedroom window and ran around to the nearest entrance. I watched as  he tried to jimmy the door unlocked.

"What the fuck are you doing here, Danks?"

"Shit. You were supposed to be sleeping or too busy doing your bitch."

"So you want a slow death it seems." I stalked toward him menacingly.

"I'm not the weakling I was then."

"How come you didn't die from the tainted drugs?"

"Because I was the one who tainted them. She was becoming a burden I didn't want to deal with anymore." He killed his sister?

He did? She gasped internally.

Shit, I didn't shut her out. I couldn't let her in at this moment. This motherfucker was nuts.

Don't you dare shut me out, damn it! I know you're thinking something.

Babe, it's for the best.

I'll come out there if you do.

Fine, but my thoughts are not going to be pretty.

We circled each other, waiting for one of us to jump first. I wasn't going to let this coward get me.

"You're not going to get out of here alive Danks."

"Neither will you," he threatened, lifting his shirt. He had a bomb strapped to his chest.

"Are you fucking nuts?"

"A little, but I've got nothing left." It was then that I noticed the  crazed look in his eyes. He wasn't joking. He was willing to kill  himself. The man was insane.

Babe, climb out the window to safety. He's got a bomb.

I can't leave you.

Don't worry, I've got a plan. I didn't have one, but I wasn't going to  let her in on that fact. She wouldn't leave. I knew if the bomb went  off, I wouldn't have a long time, so I had to find a way to run as soon  as I could. I circled so my back was to the nearest window. As I moved  to it, I saw Carolyn outside on her phone.

"Danks, time is up. We've called for help. The sheriff is on his way."

"Well then, he'll only find our burnt bodies." He hit the trigger in his  hands as I broke through the window. The explosion ripped through our  home, sending me flying to the edge of the forest. Thankfully Carolyn  had been far enough away from the house, out by our truck. My body hurt  like fucking hell right now and my head was fuzzy. Carolyn ran up to me,  frantically searching for any injuries. I heard the sirens in the  background as I lost consciousness.

It had been three of the scariest weeks of my life. Kane had been  unconscious for over two days. I could sense his pain and his constant  nightmares. Once he awoke, he'd begged me to forgive him for the bad  dreams, but he had nothing to ask forgiveness for. I was just grateful  that he didn't leave me.

After the explosion, I had a world of explanation to do to my children  who couldn't understand how their daddy almost died. Our oldest was only  five, so we just told her that there was a gas leak. I don't know if  that helped because we'd been staying with Arabella and she kept looking  worriedly at the stove.

"Carolyn, don't worry. It's better than her thinking someone was there  to kill you two. As the Alpha, Kane will have those that want his power.  She will have more to fear by thinking someone came close to  succeeding." Arabella said.

"This is just so terrible. I feel like crying, but I need to remain  strong for them and Kane. He's just gone back to his office."

"He'll be fine. He's worried about you. You've shut him out, haven't you?"

"How do you know?" I asked, sipping my tea. This baby wasn't giving me a hard time yet, but I was so sad lately. I missed Kane.

"He's been asking me how you're doing. Since you two can talk to each  other, I can't see how he wouldn't already know," she said accusingly.

She was right. I was keeping him out. "He's got to recover physically and emotionally and my fears won't help him."

"I don't think he can do it without you by his side, sharing your fear and pain."

"I don't know … " I wasn't sure about her theory, but there was something he needed to know that I'd been masking this last week.

Kane

I heard his gasp. Caro. What is it, my love?

I'm sorry for being so evasive. Can you forgive me?

As soon as you let me in.

When will you be home tonight?

I'm on my way now.

You don't have to rush.

Yes, I do. Yes... I do.

My heart was full. He missed me. I could feel his emotions pouring from  him. It didn't take more than ten minutes before he was walking through  the door and into Arabella's kitchen. He didn't stop to say hi or to  make small talk, just stalked to my side, gripped my face, and kissed me  with angry pain. I melted into his arms. It had been three weeks since  we made love and it was the first time where I'd let myself go. Once I  dropped the wall, it was like a flood. Kane picked me up in his arms and  carried me out into the warm night. We walked hand in hand without  saying a word.

When we reached an alcove, there was a blanket out there with a little basket.

"You knew I would talk today?"

"No, I've had it prepared every day this week. I just want my wife back."

"I'm sorry, Kane."

"Don't. Just explain to me what I did. What can I do to fix us?"

"You didn't do anything. You're perfect. What happened scared me. I  watched our life blow up in front of my eyes." He tried to respond, but I  stopped him. "No, you have to listen." I paced around, turning back to  him I said, "I trivialized your fears and concern, and you were right.  Our threats were still very much real. I should have agreed to keep the  security we had, but I felt safe. I love you and you were so sad once  you healed that I was worried about you and didn't know what to do. I  thought that if you knew how frightened I'd finally gotten that you  would've lost it, and I didn't want to add that pressure to your healing  process."

"Caro, you are my everything. When you shut me out like that, I felt  lost. I've never felt fear as strong as I did when you pushed me away.  My greatest fear is losing you, and I thought I was." He slowly wrapped  his big, strong arms around me. The warmth and love that I missed were  going straight to my bones.

"I wouldn't ever leave you. I need you so much. In six years, I've lived  for our love. There's nothing that I wouldn't do to keep you with me."

"Let's have some wine, my love." I paused because I couldn't drink. I had to tell him something.

"Kane, I don't want to drink."

"Come on, love. It's a special occasion."

"Kane, I'm pregnant." The look on his face was the one I feared. He doesn't want the baby.

"What? How could you even think that? I love getting you knocked up. I'm just shocked."

"Really?"

"Yes. The last time we had sex I knew we'd made another baby."

I eyed every inch of his muscular form and wanted him. He felt my desire  pouring out of me as he listened to my wicked thoughts. He slid the  zipper of my dress down, pulled the straps off my shoulders and let it  fall to the floor. My bra did little to support my breasts, but it was  sexy as hell and Kane thought so, too.

Sexy, climb on. I jumped on his body, wrapping my legs around his waist  and my hands around his neck. His lips attacked mine. He dropped to his  knees and collapsed forward, lowering us to the ground without  manhandling me. Knowing that I was carrying his babe turned my rough  lover into a teddy bear. He cuddled and caressed me. Our loving was  usually slow when I was pregnant, but tonight he wasn't in the mood for  slow.

You know it's safe. I'm not some helpless woman. I'm the Alpha's wife.

Then be prepared. My wolf has missed his mate and this man has missed the love of his life.

He pinned me to the blanket, his large hands holding my wrists above my  head with a wicked glint in his eyes. I knew we were in for some fun  tonight. The kids were not too far away, but thankfully their sense of  hearing didn't get stronger until they reach their teen years. I think  it's an evolutionary plus because mates rarely grow out of their mating  heat before the first ten years and even if they slow their loving down  it's still, at least, four times a week. I love it. Those magazines that  claim sex disappears from a marriage makes me feel bad for those women.  My pussy was beaten and eaten up deliciously every night. If it weren't  for my stubbornness, we would have been back to normal after his  recovery was over.
