The Warrior's Pet(16)
Kagan had started to worry when the female hadn't awoken for most the day but finally she came around. He was absolutely positive she'd been given too much vinum and would suffer its negative effects for a while. For all he knew the brew was poisonous for her kind.
The little thing hadn't been treated well by Vigdis that was clear. There was a bruise that had formed on her side from when she was roughly tossed into the cage. Her skin was redder than he recalled at the auction and she probably needed several good meals. Despite all that her intelligent eyes had studied him assessingly. Of all the similarities Kagan noted in his new little pet that confounded him the most.
Kagan couldn't wait for his men to finish erecting his tent so he could look her over better. Not only was he curious, but the female needed her side examined along with a bath.
"Dagaa can you have the Toufik heat up a bath and I'm going to need some food and vinum." Kagan instructed his lieutenant as he cradled his sleeping little pet.
Dagaa raised an eyebrow. Very few of his men had the freedom to question Kagan like Dagaa did. The male got away with it because they'd grown up together and in truth they generally saw eye to eye. Kagan understood the look of censure his warrior cast him. They were grown warriors and could hold their brew, but it wasn't something to partake of under the current circumstances. Unfortunately the little female would need another dram to keep her head from pounding once she awoke.
"Vigdis gave the little pet too much." Kagan looked down at the sleeping female tucked into his cloak.
"Ah" Dagaa nodded and went about his business.
Kagan walked into his tent and set his new pet on the sleeping pad on the floor then hung his cloak up on a peg. The pale little thing groaned and turned into the blankets. Kagan looked at the line of her spine that led down to her full behind. Her flaxen hair fell away from her shoulder and Kagan was shocked to see a mark on her shoulder.
He sat down beside her small huddled form and reached out. Kagan rubbed at the design that looked like a flower. She moaned shifting in the blankets. The paint didn't mar as his finger traced the red petals. He pulled his hand back in confusion.
"Why do you have warrior's ink?" Kagan asked.
Cadi females did not wear warrior's ink, not only would they likely faint at the procedure but it just wasn't done, female's weren't warriors. He shook his head.
"Wake up pet." Kagan patted her back.
The female rolled onto her back. Kagan looked at her full chest. Her breasts were nearly a handful which was saying a lot considering how small she was. The pink nipples that tipped each mound were swollen and stiff standing up erect. Kagan wondered if that was normal.
"Come on." Kagan encouraged.
Blue eyes opened slowly to stare up at him blinking in confusion before she moaned again and her little hands rubbed her temples.
One of the female Toufik entered carrying a platter along with a pitcher of water and the brew he asked for.
"Time to eat pet."
Giselle
The warrior loomed over her frighteningly close but the smell of food got her attention. She was hungry and yet not at the same time. Her headache almost outweighed the need for food.
The male cut off pieces of food and fed them to her from the tip of a two prong fork. Giselle chewed slowly begging her stomach not to rebel.
"Here it'll make the headache go away." The giant male said as he pressed a cup to her lips.
Giselle smelled the contents and clamped her mouth shut, vigorously shaking her head.
"I know." The deep voice rumbled. "But a bit will help I promise."
"Hair of the dog." Giselle thought. She understood the backwards logic, opened her mouth and took a big gulp. If it would get rid of the headache, she'd give it a try.
"Easy not too much." The male pulled the cup back and handed her one with water.
Giselle sat up, ate and drank what was given to her. It was nice to finally have a full stomach. Soon she was feeling good, better than good actually. Giselle realized she was again pretty tipsy and refused the next drink he offered. She didn't want another raging headache tomorrow.
"Enough, huh?"
Giselle nodded the motion exaggerated.
"You are small. I hope it wasn't too much." He chuckled.
Giselle looked up at the big male. She like the mirthful sound of his laugh and couldn't help but smile in return.
His large hand approached her face, and she froze. His finger touched her lips parting them further to run across her short canines.
"Interesting. You have no dentium."
Giselle couldn't help the giggle that came out. "No I don't have fangs."
She realized she'd spoken, and her hand flew to her mouth as his eyes widened.
"So you have language." His brow raised.
