“Yes Sir, right away Sir.”
“Draven you can’t just come in here and…” I started to say when the waiter left but Draven cut me off.
“What, ruin your date…? I think you would actually have to have a date stick around for more than five minutes for that to happen.” Okay, so that stung, so much in fact that I picked up my napkin and threw it on the table as I stood, snapping,
“Screw you!” in my anger. He had the audacity to look shocked for a moment before his face got soft and regretful. The waiter came rushing back telling us that our new table was ready.
“It’s alright, he will be eating alone, oh and he loves any dish with cucumbers!” I said turning and giving him a smarmy look over my shoulder. I heard him burst out laughing and even though I would have loved to have basked in the sound, I was far too busy storming out of the restaurant. No surprises when I didn’t get very far.
“Hold up now, Beautiful” He said wrapping an arm around my waist and putting an end to my dramatic escape…damn him!
“Draven,” I warned him but then sucked in a breath when I felt his face come to my neck. His lips hovered over my skin and I squirmed under his hold.
“Easy now.” He said as his hold tightened around me. I couldn’t believe he was doing this in the middle of a restaurant full of people.
“Draven let me go, people are watching us.” I hissed with my head down trying to hide my flaming face.
“Let them. Come and have dinner with me.” He was doing that seductive thing again and it felt like I was drowning under his spell.
“No.” I felt him chuckle at my ear.
“Ah come now…even if I say please?” I shuddered again when he whispered that word ‘please’ along my skin and he knew he had me.
“Fine!” I almost growled the word and once again felt him smiling at my ear.
“Good girl.” He replied kissing me quick on the neck and then letting me go. I was so embarrassed to see that our little exchange had been witnessed by not only half the restaurant but the waiter as well. I bet he thought I was a right floozy coming here with one man and then getting all cuddly with another five minutes after he left. This was what made me whip round and say,
“But only if you apologise for what you said.” He looked taken back a moment before schooling his features and crossing his arms across his chest.
“I am not sorry that the fool left you for the simple fact that I can now be here in his place…” I was about to interrupt when he quickly carried on,
“…However, I am sorry if his stupidity hurt you and my insensitivity to the fact brought forth those hurt feelings.”
“Brought forth…really Draven it’s like living in a period drama with you.” I said almost giggling.
“Keira.” He said my name with a frown and this time it made me smile, only after throwing up my hands saying,
“Alright, alright, apology accepted.” Then I let our poor confused waiter lead us to a secluded part of the restaurant. One look around at the private space and I was soon nervous once again. Now no one could see us back here and I didn’t think this was a good thing. I sat down and tried not to notice the way Draven folded himself into the seat like he commanded the room. What was it about this man that seemed to suck the energy from any space around him and use it as a weapon to bend all those to his will? I could barely take my eyes away from his body, taking note of his every movement and storing it away like some naughty little secret.
“Should I serve the next course, Sir?” The waiter asked Draven as it was obvious who was in charge at our table.
“The next course?” Draven inquired frowning and I felt my cheeks heat up knowing what was coming next.
“Yes Sir, the gentleman before you pre-ordered the chef’s tasting menu to be served.” He said and as Draven’s eyes grew darker I quickly felt sorry for the poor man as he squirmed uncomfortably under Draven’s obvious displeasure. He then turned his gaze to me and it took all my control not to flinch back he looked so angry.
“Did the lady first see this tasting menu?” He asked without his intense eyes leaving me.
“I don’t believe so Sir, no.”
“Draven, its fine, I…”
“Bring us the menu.” Draven snapped interrupting me and I really didn’t know what the big deal was.
“Yes Sir and should I still serve the wine that was ordered?” At this he raised an eyebrow at me and I quietly shook my head as I still didn’t really care for red wine. The only reason I ever drank it in the first place was that it was Alex’s favourite and he was always trying to get me to detect the hidden flavours in them, which I found was endearing of him…obviously Draven didn’t.
