The Outlaw's Obsession(29)

By:Jenika Snow

Wanting to show him how grateful she was she rose on her toes and pressed her lips to his cheek. His whiskers scratched her mouth, but strangely it was almost erotic in the way it made her feel. That ever-present electricity moved across her body, and it seemed like minutes had passed that she stayed so close to him. But then she slowly moved away at the same time he turned and looked at her, and Sonya’s heart stopped as they stared each other in the eye. She was on the tip of her toes, and their faces were no more than an inch apart. They breathed the same air, and had this chemistry that made absolutely no sense, but that felt incredibly right. Maybe she shouldn’t fight it? That sounded nice and all, but she couldn’t forget about what was going on in her life, the dangers still around her, or that her time with the Grizzly MC was borrowed.

Sonya realized Jagger had circled his hands around her upper arms once more, but he wasn’t just holding her, but keeping her close and moving his thumbs back and forth over her arms. Sonya opened her mouth, maybe to tell him this was bad, or maybe it was because this felt so good. But before anything could be said the sound of DeDe clearing her throat brought them both out of whatever haze they had been trapped in. Sonya blinked and lowered herself to her feet at the same time Jagger let go of her arms. She took a step to the side and looked over at DeDe. She smiled at them, but Sonya didn’t have to be a shifter to know it was fake—like everything else on this woman.

“I can take you to get some clothes if you want? I know Bonnie at the boutique, and she’ll cut you a deal because of the club.” DeDe smiled again, but this time it was more like a wolf in a herd full of sheep.

Okay, Sonya was a bit taken aback by her offer, but she also knew there was an ulterior motive for DeDe’s generosity. Not five minutes ago there had been clear hostility in the other woman’s stance and attitude, and now she was offering to help Sonya go shopping? Before she could say anything Jagger was speaking.

“No.”

They both looked at him as that one very rough word that came from. “If Sonya leaves this clubhouse it is only with a Grizzly member.” His whole demeanor was rigid and guarded again. She looked over at DeDe, and saw this almost glossed over lusty gaze that she aimed right at Jagger, yet he wasn’t looking at DeDe, but at Sonya instead.

“Come on.” Jagger took Sonya’s hand and started leading her down the hallway and to his room. He stopped at his bedroom door and looked over at the other woman. “DeDe, tell Diesel when he gets up that we are headed to the bike shop and then going to get breakfast.”

Sonya looked over at her, saw the nasty ass look thrown her way, but ignored it. She had a lot more important things to be concerned about than that woman. Jagger led her into his room and shut the door.

“Is your shoulder bothering you?” He walked over to his dresser and opened several drawers before finally stopping at the one he wanted.

“It’s sore, but I’m okay.” And surprisingly she was. She would probably need some ibuprofen before she left if they’d be out for a while, but right now it was tolerable. When he turned around he was holding a dark t-shirt. He held it out to her, but for some reason he wouldn’t look her in the eye. She walked up to him and took the t-shirt from him. “Thank you.”

He nodded once.

“Is everything okay?”

He did look at her then.

“I didn’t upset you when I kissed your cheek, did I?”

He lowered his dark brows in confusion. “What?” “Yeah.” She looked down and ran her fingers over the dark material. “I didn’t know if I had stepped over a line, but I wanted to show you my gratitude, and that was the first thing that came to my mind. Saying ‘thank you’ just didn’t seem like enough.” Before she could get another word out Jagger was moving toward her. She backpedaled, not knowing what else to do since instincts were now taking over. Before she knew it the wall was stopping her retreat and Jagger was standing right in front of her.

He lifted his arms and placed them on the wall right beside her head, caging her in, but not making her feel like a prisoner. The way he looked at her, so possessively and territorially, had everything inside of Sonya becoming alert. For several long seconds all he did was stare at her, and all Sonya could do was try to relax and not let her hormones take control, but it was a failing battle, and quite frankly not one she wanted to fight.

“Jagger, this is crazy.”

He closed his eyes and inhaled deeply. She shouldn’t feel this way about anyone, especially a biker. For everything that Trick had subjected her to, and the fact she had only been away from him for a day, she thought she would have been numb to everything. She was used to Trick’s anger and his sadistic pleasures, and over the years she had grown detached from him. But from the moment she saw Jagger a spark had started to grow inside of her, increasing every minute that she was in his presence.
