The Lover Beneath Me(36)

By:Evangelene

“Daimon…” she stopped as she stepped closer. I watched her. God, I was so pissed at her. “Daimon, I'm not going to say sorry, but I am going to say thank you.” she smiled sweetly. What?

“You are going to apologize,” I ordered.

“No, I'm not,” she fought back.

“Addie—” Her phone rang. “You better think again, little Addie,” I warned her, but she looked right at me. The little vixen was getting under my skin when it was me who wanted to do that to her. She didn’t even bat an eye at my threats. She only smiled as she reached for her back pocket and took out her phone.

“Yes, hello?” she answered her phone. “Oh, Chantal, you’re here in London. Where?” She nodded a few times. “Okay, text me the place. I’ll be there in a few.” She then hung up and started to leave.

“Addie,” I growled as I kept my hands pinned to my hips, just in case I acted stupid, like grabbing her phone and throwing it against the wall. But Addie ignored me as she reached the door. She didn’t hesitate. “Addie.” I lunged to keep the door closed.

“Even though it was twisted, I thought the reason you were yelling at me was kind of sweet. But demanding an apology from me? Why? So what if I'm the old Addie? What, she’s not good enough now? She isn’t what you want? So now what is it? The new Addie with money is better? I don’t care what you think, Mr. Evans, but I happened to like the old Addie. She kept me alive all these years,” she berated me. That look of contempt of hers was only ever reserved for me. My hand slowly slid off the door, stupefied by her accusations. I stood there in my room as I watched her march past Rafe to the elevator and leave.

“Son of a bitch!” I roared so loudly I knew she heard me.

“You fucked up big time, Evans,” Rafe said in passing as he sat down on the couch.

“Fuck you, Rafe,” I growled at him.

“You might have to since Addie left,” he mocked.

“One more and I swear,” I threatened.

“Sorry, man,” Rafe said quietly.

“What time is the meeting?” I asked as I made my way into the living room area.

“In about forty minutes, which I may add, doesn’t give you enough time to find her and fuck her senseless,” Rafe said as he stood up and met me at the elevator.

“Fuck me, I’m going to kill her,” I muttered as we left our room.

When Addie came back, I was going to fuck her hard, hard enough that she would know I owned her; that I meant the words I said. I loved her for who she was. I just didn’t want to see the old Addie back, not that I would love her any less but because she was more than that, more than the shadow she was for the last ten years. I hated how she easily defied me.

Rafe and I met Clark at the office. The man was exactly who I wanted. He was good at his job and made us money in the first quarter.

“Keep it up and you’ll get a raise.” I smiled as I looked over the charts.

“Don’t worry, I will,” Clark said confidently.

“What about the fuckers?” I asked, still not looking at him.

“Pain the arse! Hugh, is nothing but a gob-shite,” Clark hissed. “Don’t think too much of him.”

“How about we go out to dinner?” Rafe interjected as he threw the papers on the table. “I’m fucking hungry.”

Hugh was a pain in my ass. The blond fucker always smirked at me when he saw me. His brother Colin was no better, but at least he was a smarter man. Clark was exactly what I wanted in a manager, but the Harris brothers’ company was larger. Buying both companies was risky but worth it. In the end I won, as usual.

My days back then were filled with this pain-in-the-ass merger and two ass plugs named Hugh and Colin. Colin wasn’t too bad and I would have had the mind to keep him, but his fucking piece-of-shit brother would probably interfere too much. Hugh thought he was God’s gift to business and thought he could pull one over me, thinking he could use my money to further his father’s investment firm. The dumb fuck was running it into the ground, taking anyone and everyone out to dinner and socializing instead of actually working. If it wasn’t for his brother, Colin, the business would have died a long time ago.

I wanted it because of its connection in London. It had a reputable name and I knew if I got my hands on it, I would be making a lot of money. The only thorn in my side, well, besides the asshat Hugh, was Richard Cove. I knew he was the one who provoked Hugh to raise his price. As much as I respected the fucker, Richard hated my guts and didn’t want me treading in his London as he called it. Too fucking bad for Richard, I made it mine now.
