The Love Triangle(54)
He shrugged. “So since you are rejecting me, what did you want to talk about?”
Charles wasn’t sure what else she had up her sleeve and it made him a little nervous. “Well, you know I was talking about finding someone to run the company?”
“Uh huh.”
“I signed it over today. The running rights, but I still have enough stock to have majority say in all decisions. I get to take as much time off as I need and it will still keep the family name, all the employees will be taken care of. There will be a slight dip in profits to pay for a CEO, but I think with a few of my shares, I can alleviate that as well. This new guy is great and I think with the added productivity, it will be a wash or even maybe higher than projections.”
“You're amazing.”
“Why?”
“Because you can ride me like a bull one minute and talk about projections the next, naked in bed with me. I would say that is pretty rare.”
“Yes, well. I was trying to tell you earlier, but you were more worried about looking at my chest.”
Charles agreed, his eyes back on the bare mounds, moving slightly as she breathed and talked. They were practically hypnotic. He leaned closer to lick the hard tip. She wasn’t as quick to push him away, but she eventually had to as his licking turned to suckling. It drove her crazy and she felt familiar stirrings in her. It appeared that her body didn’t care how sore she was.
“You know what that means right?”
“Mmmhmmm.”
She slapped his hand that was inching back towards her. “I will get dressed and sleep in pants and a shirt if you don’t quit.”
He moved back reluctantly. Dahlia couldn’t believe how much he wanted her all the time. Charles was simply starving for it all the time.
“It means that the clause is gone.”
Charles heard that. “Really? Are you sure you want to do that?”
“Well you will still get the benefits of the marriage and well, my priorities have changed and working the next twenty years there doesn’t sound as good as it used to. I used to like the power and the business, the deals. But now, every meeting is the last one I want to go to. Have you ever felt that way?”
“Sometimes. I still like the chase of it all. I have thought about taking some time off and maybe traveling, but I think I like running things. It is apparent I don’t get to run things at home.”
She nodded, sitting up. Dahlia tried to feel sympathetic, but it was hard to when he was looking at her in such a way. How could he want her so much after they had been together so many times in one day? As she moved towards him, she went to her hands and knees, crawling over his body as his hips thrusted upwards to greet her hot hole.
“See so eager. Always so eager.”
“Do you want to run things here?”
He nodded his head. “Very much so.”
“Okay, what do you want?”
“For you to sit down on me.”
Her insides clenched and though it was what she was going to do anyways, Dahlia just let him think for once that he had won. When she settled down against him, it was both of them that had won.
Chapter 18
Even though the clause of her father’s will was no longer in effect, Dahlia had not changed her mind about adopting a child. She wanted to be a mother and with her schedule cleared up, it was quite quickly that everything was dotted and signed. Only six months later, Leandra was brought home and Dahlia couldn’t have been happier.
Instead of slogging through meetings, travel and million dollar deals, she was now dealing with diapers and all of the trappings of a child. It was more work than she had ever imagined and she started to think that work had actually been easier. But work didn’t smile at her in such a way that her heart melted.
Leandra was adopted as an infant, though she was already about three months old before Dahlia met her and brought her home. It was love at first sight for both of them. Charles was absolutely adorable with her. He had learned to change diapers and she had learned to cook, so most of the staff had been let go and Dahlia pushed into her new role as steadfast and eager as she did all the rest. It was perfect and she never wanted it to end.
She waited for him to get home from work. Dahlia was surprised at how much she missed him the few hours he was gone. Taking a page from her book, Charles had been working less as well. He was getting home at five still, but most of the time didn’t leave until noon. It was one of the perks of being boss and Dahlia couldn’t be happier for it. It was all coming together and with the bright brown-eyed baby girl with the black curls on her hip, it all just felt right.
Hearing the door open, she walked towards the entrance, not even wanting to wait till he had his jacket off to give him a kiss. It was surprising how quickly things had changed. Her life was nothing where she thought it would be only a few months before. She had become a happy stay at home mom, with less worries and a husband that loved her.
“Hey. You look really good, baby.”
Her cheeks got hot with the compliment. It was never just his words, but the way he looked at her that made her feel all warm inside. When she noticed that Leandra had dozed off, she looked at him slyly. “No, she is getting back up. We have to work out a schedule and dinner is almost ready, so none of that.”
Charles pouted, but he kissed her again with a little less heat. Taking their daughter out of her arms, he tickled her gently to wake her up. She was not a morning person and they both found it too funny to wake her up. Leandra would give them the dirtiest look and it made them laugh. After she had given her father the stink eye, she looked around for Dahlia and started to get fussy. Dahlia touched her face softly and she calmed down almost immediately.
“How do you do that?”
“I don’t know. You're just too nervous. She can feel it. Would you want someone holding you that was afraid?”
“I guess not.”
“Relax, she loves you Charles.” She could see the doubt in his eyes, but it was endearing that he was so worried about everything. He constantly worried that he was doing it wrong, but the lengths that he went to trying made up for it in strides. Seeing them together just made her love him that much more.

Charles was still worried that he was holding her wrong, but they were getting more in tune. He had never realized how much he wanted a family, until he thought of if he didn’t have them all of a sudden. He knew that his life would never be the same if it were that way.
The people at work were giving him a hard time about all his early evenings and late starts, but there was really nothing that could be said. He decided to give another week of vacation to everyone in the company. His wife had changed him in more ways than one. Leandra had changed him for the better as well, creating an unbreakable bond, but it was Dahlia that had showed him that life could be more than money. It was liberating, but some of his family and friends were not as happy about the changes.
One person in particular was more than a little green to see him happy. Stacy had seen him walking into work after noon, whistling. He had never been that way with her. She overheard him on the phone to his wife and the orders he would make to send her flowers, just because. It made her sick to see how different he was with his wife than he had been her, in less time than they had been together. While it was never dating, they had made love many times over the years. She missed her fuckbuddy and the only one to blame for her cold beds and unsatisfying lovers was Dahlia.
To make matters worse, Charles had announced they had adopted a little girl. A small part of her broke inside and when she saw the happy couple together for a lunch date, Stacy was beside herself. Dahlia was nice to her, though Stacy knew that she knew who she was. It was the flick of her eye over her that drove her mad, as if she wasn’t worried about her. She should be! Stacy thought to herself.
It was another late day for Charles and she saw that it was almost one o’ clock. There was a glow about him that she knew well. They had just been together and by the look on his face, he was satisfied. He used to look at her that way, practically glowing afterwards with a smile on his face. It was just another dig at her that he couldn’t be bothered to go to the meeting she told him about. Instead he had to go off his wife before coming in.
“Afternoon, Charles. We were expecting you at the meeting an hour ago. I already pushed it back to this time because you couldn’t make it in at nine.”
Charles smile cracked a little and he moved towards his office. He knew that she would follow and it almost took him off of his high. He refused to let that happen though, telling himself that she would get over this phase she was going through. Charles was not blind to her jealousy, but that day it was just right from the gate. Remembering why he never wanted more than a fling with her, he set his briefcase down on the desk.
“Sorry, Stacy, things just came up at the last minute. Everything was handled either way though right?”
“Yes, of course.”
“Good. I have been thinking about taking the family to an island somewhere, like a little vacation. I need to know that things will be handled here if I'm away. I'm planning on moving you up and having you take care of things if I start to do it more often. Leandra is getting old enough to fly.”
