“You make me one hell of a happy man, Cat.” He kissed her, long and sweet, his heart one with hers, his soul complete. When he could finally pull himself away, he slipped the diamond ring on her finger. “It was my mother’s. She’d want you to have it.”
“Oh, Iain. It’s beautiful.” She threw her arms around his neck, kissing him once more.
“There’s more, love. I heard from my accountant.” It had taken some finagling but they somehow managed it. “I was able to free up enough cash to recoup the money my father fronted for my brother and to bail Malcolm out of his troubles.”
“Iain… I hope you know that I understand why you had wanted to use the necklace for collateral. I’d likely have done the same.”
“No, love. You wouldn’t have. But that’s all right. It’s one of the reasons I love you.”
“You know, the tabloids are going to have a field day with this.”
“Aye, love. I expect they will.” He couldn’t help but laugh at the thought of the headlines they’d dream up.
Cat smiled and gave him a quick kiss. “Except that none of this ever happened.”
He burst out laughing and swept her off her feet in a spin until she squealed in delight. “Of course not, my love. It’s already forgotten.”
