I stood there in shock, not knowing what to think. I looked around the room, and I was not the only one who was shocked. I could see the looks of horror on each of their faces.
“I have allowed this young girl to come and work in this office through a program at her school, and I intend for her to learn everything she can,” Dr. Shaffer continued. “If this does not happen I will count it as a failure on your part and it could affect your bonuses at the end of the year. Are there any problems with what I have said?”
No one dared to say a word. They knew that not only their bonuses were on the line but their jobs as well. If Dr. Shaffer fired them, they would have a very hard time finding more work.
The nurses began to disperse and Dr. Shaffer looked down at me. “If there are any more issues, let me know,” he said, smiling.
The rest of the summer was amazing. I worked hard at the office and learned a lot. Dr. Shaffer and I met up after work almost every night and we spent all of our weekends together. When fall came and school began, he told me that I was always welcome back at his office and wrote me a glowing letter of recommendation. I will never forget the man who taught me what it was like to be fucked by someone who knew what he was doing, and I definitely will never forget that summer. I never told anyone, not even Valarie. It was our dirty little secret.
