The Billionaire's Unlikely Bride(Book 2)(4)

By:Helen Cooper

I stood there in shock. Elliott walked back to me. "Are you okay Elle?"

I nod my head unable to meet his gaze. "Elle, look at me." I look into his eyes and I see my gaze reflected back at me.

"I'm not a whore."

He smiles at me. "I know that Elle."

"What if I'm pregnant?" I bring up the herring in the room.

"Then we'll get married."

"Oh." I didn't want him to marry me only because I was pregnant.

"And, I'll marry you even if you aren't." I look up into his eyes and I  see that he has let his guard down. He is gazing at me with love and I  feel my heart soar.

"You don't have to you know."

"Elle, I have loved you for years and if you feel half of what I feel, then I will be happy.

"Oh Elliott. I want you to … " A banging at the door cuts me off.

"Dad, Elle, open the door." It's Brittany and she is banging furiously. Oh shit.

"Time to face the music my dear." Elliott sighs and goes to the door. Brittany comes rushing in looking at us suspiciously.

"Olivia just told me something scandalous." She yells. I look down  unable to meet her gaze. I really hoped I wasn't about to lose my best  friend.

"Olivia told me that my best friend was sleeping with my dad and was after my inheritance."

"Brittany, I … " Elliott starts but Brittany doesn't let him finish.

"No wait. I told her that my best friend was not interested in money.  And I knew this because no matter how hard I tried to push her towards  Peter, she wasn't really interested." Brittany paused for breath. "I  told her that Elle had been my best friend for years and was the most  beautiful and wonderful person I had ever met. I looked up at her then  to see if she was being sincere or sarcastic.

"Dad, Elle." She sighed. "I love you both. If there is something you want to tell me please do so now."

"Elle and I are to be married Brit."

Both Brittany and I gasped at the same time. I looked at her face to  gauge her reaction. She raced over to me and hugged me. "I could kill  you for not telling me Elle but I love you and I trust you and you are  perfect for my dad." She grinned. "No wonder that's why you always asked  about his love life."

"What's that?" Elliott walked over to us and smirked at me. "Been keeping tabs on me Elle?"

I blush. "No." But I hug Brittany and hold her close. "Thanks Brittany. I was so scared to tell you how I felt."

"That's okay. I don't know that I would want to hear the intimate details of my dads sex life."

"Brittany." Elliott admonished her.

"Come off it Dad, Olivia told me what she walked in on." I felt my face going red.

"Brittany." Elliott looked stern but laughed. "Thank you for being okay with this Brit. I love you."

"Thanks Dad," She hugged him. "And Mom."

And then we all laughed. "You can keep calling me Elle."

Epilogue

A Year Later

"We're both billionaires now Elle." Brittany grins at me as I help to  fix her hair. She looks radiant on her wedding day. Mark was one lucky  guy.

"I guess we are Brit." I laugh at her, happy that she has accepted my  marrying her father so well. The baby crying interrupts me from brushing  her hair. I sigh.

"Hey Elle, go look after my baby brother. He can't cry on my big day."

"Oh, the joys of being a mom." I walk over to my son and pick him up.

"You're a wonderful mom Elle. My brother has the best mother in the whole world."

"Oh Brit, you are going to make me cry." I stare at my best friend with love. How lucky I was to be her roommate.

"Me too." I hear Elliott walk into the room and see him beaming. "My 2  favorite girls in one room with my little one. This is a joyous  feeling."

"Oh Dad." Brittany grins at me.

"Let me take him," Elliott reaches down for our son and kisses me. "You finish Brittany's hair.

"Wow, Brit you need to get married every day. Now I know how to get him  to take a crying baby." I laugh as I hand Jake over to his proud papa.  Even at 3 months old, he looks like the spitting image of his dad.

"I saw Peter yesterday," Brittany starts and I groan. "He and his mom are moving to Florida."

"What? Why?" I look puzzled.

"Remember that huge investment he was buying stocks in; that was going  to put him in the Forbes list? Well it was a bust. He lost all their  money. They had to sell up and go and live with Olivia's parents in some  condo in Boca Raton."

"No way." I look shocked.

"Maybe there is something we can do to help." Elliott looks up at me.

"I think not dear husband." I walk over to him and thoroughly kiss him. "You are all mine."

"And you my dear are my love, my always and my forever." Elliott and I  hold hands for a few seconds before I go back and finish up my best  friends hair.

"I've got this, I've got this." I mumbled to myself as I walked into the  Verona Building. I gulped, as I looked at all the professional people  around me. I saw 2 news anchors and a famous actor as I walked to the  front desk and took a couple of breaths before I spoke.

"I'm here for my first day … "

"You here for the job with Hamilton?" The lady looked me up and down suspiciously.

"Uhm, yes." I squeaked. I had thought my new bosses name was going to be  Jack but didn't want to draw any more attention to myself. "I'm here to  work for Hamilton."

"Heh, you don't look like someone with years of experience, but what do I  know?" I went to answer her but realized she was talking to herself.  "Take this, go up to the 35th floor, and wait in the office on the  right."

"Okay." I grabbed the guest pass she gave me and looked around, not sure where the elevators were.

"The elevators are over there," the receptionist pointed to a spot  directly to my right. "Press the button 35 to get to the 35th floor."  And with that she started talking to the next person.

Embarrassed I walked over to the elevator. This day was not going well  at all. I got off at the 35th floor and walked past an empty desk into a  huge room that had a great view of the Manhattan skyline. I could see  the Empire State Building and gazed in admiration.

"Can I help you?" A deep voice in my ear made me jump.

"Aaarrgh." I screamed. "Sorry, I frighten easily. I looked up into the  darkest blue eyes I had ever seen. They didn't look impressed or amused.

"Uhm, sorry. I'm just waiting for Jack, I mean Hamilton. I'm not sure exactly."

The man raised his eyebrows at me. "You don't know who you are waiting for?"

I swallowed hard watching him talk. He was gorgeous. Tall and handsome  didn't even begin to describe it. He was like a male Adonis, with short  dark hair, complimenting his tanned skin and solid body. Wow. That's all  I could think. Wait until Lucy hears about this.

"Sorry. This is my first day. And I'm not sure if there was some  confusion or what?" I looked at him and offered a smile, hoping to  garner his sympathy.

"You're the new girl?" He looked at me in disbelief.

"Uh, Yes." I try to look at him adamantly, like I was ready for business.

"They hired you?"

"Yes. And I accepted. I had several options you know but wanted to work  for the best." I beam and fuddle around with my briefcase.

"You look like you are barely out of college, not someone with years of experience."

"Well, yes. I do get told I look young for my age. But I know all about Twitter and Facebook and of course Pin interest."

"What?" The man looked confused.

"Let me introduce myself. I am Jenny Carpenter." I reached for his hand  so I could give him my professional handshake. I'd been practicing it  all night with Lucy.

"Okay, Jenny. Well I'm Hamilton. We have a lot to do today. I hope you are prepared."

"Yes sir. I am definitely prepared and ready for the job. Uh, what happened to Jack?"

"Jack?"

"Yes, I thought he was supposed to be my boss?"

"I've no idea what you are talking about. If you don't want this job you  can leave." And with that Hamilton walked into his office.
