The Billionaire's Bride of Convenience(42)

‘You like?’ he asked in husky tones after a minute of the most exquisite toe torture.

Kathryn swallowed, then nodded.

‘You’ll like this better,’ he said.

With a few deft movements he slipped both his legs under hers, lifting her knees as he scooped forward in the water and entered her. He was so right, she thought as her arms automatically reached to wrap around his neck, her legs finding a home around his waist, both actions pulling him deeper into her already turned-on body. She liked this much better.

‘Damn,’ he muttered.

She blinked. ‘What is it?’

‘I forgot the condom.’

‘Does it matter? I promise you I won’t get pregnant.’

‘That’s not the point,’ Hugh retorted. ‘I always use a condom.’

‘In that case, everything’s perfectly safe. And it does feel good, doesn’t it?’ she said, wiggling her bottom.

Too good, Hugh thought as he took firm hold of her hips. His first intention was to keep her still, then to withdraw. But his hands had other ideas and before he knew it he was rocking her back and forth.

‘Oh, yes,’ she said, then moved herself without any help.

Hugh groaned as the tension began to build. And build. Her flesh started squeezing him tightly, her eyelids growing heavy as her head tipped back and her lips fell wantonly apart.

He wasn’t the one who’d corrupted her, Hugh decided as he watched her come with wild abandon. She’d corrupted him.

His own climax was just as violent, Hugh wallowing in the alien experience of pumping hot and free into her lush, greedy flesh. With any other woman, he might have worried that she was trying to trap him with a pregnancy. His father had drummed that warning into him from his teenage years.

And he’d heeded that warning. Till tonight.

But Hugh knew Kathryn wasn’t that kind of girl.

She didn’t want him, or his baby, or his money for that matter.

She wanted a decent man to love her and marry her, and to stay married to her for the rest of her life. She wanted commitment and caring and security for herself, and her children.

All she wants from you, Hugh, my boy—other than that vital piece of paper—is sex.

Which is exactly all you want from her, he reminded himself sternly when an oddly emotional lump filled his throat.

So stop being stupid and get on with it.

‘I think it’s time we went back to bed,’ he said, and pulled the bath plug out from under her.

CHAPTER FOURTEEN

‘HUGH PARKINSON’S office. Kathryn Hart speaking. How may I help you?’

‘Kathryn, dear. Good morning. By any chance is Hugh there?’

It was Hugh’s mother. Normally, Kathryn would have been totally at ease with the woman. Today, however, she could not bring herself to be her usual sweet self.

‘Sorry, Mrs Parkinson. He’s playing golf.’

‘I thought as much. I know he plays every Thursday morning. I did try his mobile but it’s turned off. Which is rather silly, given his position at the moment. What if something important came up and you wanted to contact him?’

‘I have mentioned that to him, Mrs Parkinson,’ Kathryn said with an edge in her voice.

‘Yes, dear, I’m sure you have,’ she said cheerfully. ‘He must be a very frustrating man to work for.’

Very, Kathryn thought, Hugh having not made love to her once this week. He’d stunned her on Monday morning by saying that he would now wait till the following Sunday; that, thanks to her being so accommodating over the weekend, he was no longer off the planet with uncontrollable lust. He’d given her a patronising kiss on the cheek and told her that she didn’t have to worry about his not going through with the marriage, because he wasn’t cured yet, just temporarily appeased.

If anything had been designed to give Kathryn a reality check it was that kiss, so unlike the kisses they’d shared the previous day, the long, hungry, intimate kisses which he’d bestowed all over her body—and vice versa.

One part of her—the common-sense part—had reasoned it was all for the best. Because by the time he’d finally taken her home on Sunday evening, she’d begun having strongly sentimental feelings towards him.

The last thing Kathryn wanted was to start thinking she’d fallen for him. So she should have been relieved that Hugh had decided to cool things for a while.

Her revved-up libido, however, hadn’t been happy at all.
