“What do you mean?” she asked.
“How you got here in the first place,” he said, dropping his fork.
“Huh?”
“Sex slave and criminal consultant remember,” he said, throwing back her original words at her. “My security head, Max, who may I point out almost lost his job thanks to you, has been hassling me for information ever since you broke in and I need to give it to him.”
“Oh, of course, right.” She scrunched her brow again and looked down at her plate.
Sebastian frowned. “Are you okay, Kleftisa?” The words left him before he thought them through. Because really he shouldn’t even be asking such questions should he? They were lovers and questions should be confined to the bedroom…only it felt that after last night something had shifted ever so slightly.
It was all down to the trip they’d taken of course. After seeing her surroundings the protective instincts in Sebastian had begun to rear their head. And so after the first day of fucking her hard and fast he’d given into the impulse to fuck her gently, to be intimate with her. He wondered now if it had been a mistake. Penny had hardly responded the way he’d hoped. She’d glared at him afterwards and disappeared into the bathroom for over an hour.
He sighed, picked his fork back up but then put it down again.
“I’m fine,” she said. “And of course we should get started. Don’t want someone breaking in whilst I’m on my knees with your cock in my mouth.”
So crude. But he was getting her measure now. Starting to understand. “You’re being vulgar because of last night,” he said, jumping feet first to the matter at hand because she never would—already he knew that getting her to admit to anything she didn’t want to was near on impossible. And hadn’t she acted that way in the very beginning? When she felt threatened. But why would slow sex scare her? He ran the thought over in his mind and considered.
She frowned again, dropping her fork also. “I don’t know what you mean and vulgar? Sebastian, don’t be so pompous. I’ve had your cock in my mouth multiple times.”
“And you’ll have it multiple times more,” he agreed. “But regardless you’re being…what’s the word…snarky, and I know why. It took you by surprise last night. It did me also.”
“Very little takes me by surprise, Sebastian, but just as an fyi, in future I’m not a fan of tender. Didn’t I say that in the very beginning?”
“You did but sometimes I am and you’ll have to deal with it.”
She laughed. “Sebastian Demetrious tender lover? Really?”
“I’m Greek,” he said, bristling at her words—which she’d probably planned damn her! “We pride ourselves on pleasuring our lovers.”
“Well you pleasure me when you fuck me hard, dirty, and fast, okay? And now that’s settled, there’s the door.”
“The door what?”
She sighed and pointed to the side entrance. “Where I got in.”
Despite the fact he knew she was purposefully changing the subject Sebastian let her, for the moment at least. “Here, in the kitchen?”
“Yep. The locks are weaker here because you have several staff with keys. Originally I hoped to copy one of them but it was impossible. Instead I got a picture of the lock type and based my picks around that.”
He was intrigued and stood up to eye the door. “A picture from where.”
“I’ll get to that in a minute,” she said. “So I came through here. I knew your security sweeps were hourly when Max wasn’t around, and you really need to do something about that as they are far too regulated. It is easy to pick up the pattern. I also knew they’d be a bit…not lapse…but less vigilant because you weren’t here.”
Sebastian wondered if that was true and put it on his mental list. “My security staff are very dedicated,” he said, not sure why he felt the need to defend them considering he’d already instructed Max to fire several. “As much as I will allow them to be at least.”
“Dedicated fine, regulated so not fine. So the moment they did their sweep I got in,” Penny continued. “From there it was easy, because it was so early they hadn’t activated any of the alarms. Why would they? You’d be home at some point and set them off. Again that’s an issue I think. If the house is empty you need to have an alarm on.”
“And how exactly did you get to the back door?”
“Over the wall.”
“Show me where.”
Together they headed out of the side door onto the decked area of his garden. The air smelled sweet and Sebastian took just a moment to breathe it in.
