Supercharged Love(37)
Pity she’s leaving, dickhead.
With deliberate slowness, making no sudden movements incase I alarm her or make her realize I’m still touching her; I finger a strand of her silky soft hair. Her breathing is shallow when I tuck it behind her ear. My finger trails along her earlobe and down her neck. Seeing as she hasn’t told me to fuck off, I keep going.
“Aaron says you're leaving?” I ask in a low voice and feel her intake of breath as my finger trails along her collarbone.
“He told you huh?” She doesn’t sound surprised as she gives me a sidelong glance.
“Yeah, last week in the diner.”
“That little-” Leigh shakes her head at a loss for names to call him because she knows he means well.
“Why?” I ask, needing to know.
“It’s time.”
“Time for what?”
She lets out a soft sigh that makes me want to gather her up in my arms and never let go.
“This town, it’s too much. I need to go and …” I can’t stand it anymore. My mouth claims hers, cutting off her words when my tongue darts into her mouth. I I expect her to push me away and beat me on the chest for kissing her like that. Instead, her fingers delve into my hair, keeping our mouths locked together. I can’t get close enough, and I pull her over the gear stick to straddle me, glad I moved the seat back because it gives us more room.
Our tongues fight with each other and my dick grows harder by the second. If she’s aware of it, which she must be, she doesn’t object. Breaking our kiss, I rest my forehead against hers, looking deep into her gaze.
“What would make you stay?” I ask in a soft voice.
She gives a small shrug. “Nothing.”
“What about us?”
“Max …” she warns in a low voice.
“No. Leigh. Haven’t you realized yet how much I want you?”
She rears back to glare at me. “But you have a different girl every weekend.”
“They don’t mean anything.” I exhale a harsh breath; I’ve been a dick all along.
Exasperated, she throws open the door and climbs off my lap and out of the Charger, leaving the door open, I climb out after her to stand next to her. My fingers lace with hers and she squeezes.
“We could work,” I say, hopefully but she dashes it with her next words.
“I need to go.”
“But why?” That’s what I don’t understand.
“It’s something I need to do. Get away from here, from racing.” Her voice trails off as she bites her lip, to stop from giving too much away.
“Racing?” Now, I’m confused; I thought she loved racing. She loves fast cars, and she’s at most races at the quarter mile.
“It’s nothing.” Shaking her head, she dismisses the question. Silence hangs between us until I can’t stand it anymore. I shift to stand in front of her. My arms wrap loosely around her waist and her fingers curl into the waistband of my jeans, tugging me closer. Her head bows to rest on my chest and my arms tighten round her. I press my lips to the top of her head and she sinks further into my arms. I never want to let go. I know for certain Leigh Storm is who I want.
“I’d better go.” Her voice is muffled against my chest.
“Leigh?” She lifts her head to look at me.
“Yeah?” But I don’t know what else to say to make her change her mind. Instead, I cup her face in my hands, holding it gently, and lower my lips to hers. Her eyelids flutter shut as our lips make contact and she kisses me back with as much feeling as I put into this one kiss. Her hands slide along the skin at the top of my jeans, under my shirt, and I press into her. My dick hardens further, despite me willing it to behave, and is now pressing into her thigh. Lifting her onto the hood of her car, I step between her legs and they wrap around me, drawing me nearer, closer to her. I fight to control how much I want to rip off her jeans and sink into her right here on the car hood.
Pausing, I look down at her. At the way her hair is disheveled, her cheeks glow, and her lips are plump from our kisses.
“Don’t go.” It’s unclear whether I mean tonight or in general. Either way, I don’t want her to go. But I’ve no right to try and stop her. She slides off the hood and squeezes past me. I rest my palms on the metal, dipping my head and draw a steadying breath into my lungs. Reaching out for me, her small hand closes around my bicep and squeezes.
“See ya.” She stands on tiptoes and leans over to press a kiss to my cheek. I move out of the way and watch as she gets into her Charger and starts the engine. I remain in the same spot as she turns the car around, and I don’t turn away until darkness swallows her red taillights.
