Styx (Walk Of Shame 2nd Generation #2)(11)
“You’re trying to tell me that you’re not going back to the club tonight to look for Styx? You want to see him again. I can tell.” Her friend laughs. “You’ve had this look on your face all day . . .”
Meadow’s head shoots up to look at her friend. “What kind of look is that?”
“A one of longing . . . and horniness.”
Turning red, Meadow grabs for a pillow and tosses it at her friend’s head. “Oh shut it! You don’t know what you’re talking about. I’m not . . . you’re insane.”
“Is she?”
Both girls look over at the sound of my deep voice.
Meadow tries hard to hide her smile, but there’s no mistaking the fact that she’s happy to see me here.
“Yes,” she says, while pushing her friend away. “Mandy is extremely insane. So just ignore the words that come out of her mouth.”
I raise a brow and look her over in her uniform, looking so damn cute. I can think of many ways that I’d like to strip her from it.
“Maybe I like the words that are coming out of her mouth. Especially the ones about you.”
Mandy clears her throat and begins backing toward the door. “I’ll be at the desk if you need me.” She turns to me and smiles. “I’m not insane. Trust me, I know how to read my friend.”
“Mandy!” Meadow looks at Mandy with wide eyes and points at the door. “Go!”
I wait for her friend to leave, before I walk into the room and greet her with a kiss on the cheek. “It’s good to see you.” I grab the back of her neck and look her in the eyes. “I’m not going to lie . . . I like what your friend was saying.”
She lets out a small breath and turns her head away to hide her blush. “I’m surprised to see you here.” She continues on with fixing the bed. “Was I easy to find? Or did you use some special stalker skills?”
My eyes lower down to her perfect ass when she bends over to tuck the sheet in. I’m trying really damn hard not to just walk up behind her and show her just how much she turns me on. “Doesn’t matter. I had all day to search and I was on a mission.”
This causes her to laugh and look up from the bed. “That bored, huh?”
She stands up straight to walk around me, but I block her with my body and slide both of my hands under her neck to look her in the eyes. She holds my stare and her breathing picks up as I lean in close to her mouth. “Spending time with you happens to excite me, Meadow. That doesn’t happen very often. Not many women can stay on my mind for longer than twenty minutes. You’ve been on mine for days.”
I pull away and watch her throat as she swallows. “What are you doing in a few hours?” she questions. “Do you have plans?”
Reaching out, I wrap a strand of her hair around my finger and then push it behind her ear, brushing my thumb over her cheek. “Picking you up from work and taking you on a ride. I want to get you alone.”
“Meadow,” a male voice calls out from the doorway. “Everything okay in there?” He’s trying to sound concerned, but jealousy is evident in his tone.
She sucks in a surprised breath, as I wrap my arm around her waist and pull her against me. I’m not worried about what he thinks, but it somehow feels like she might be.
That tells me that she’s either talking to this guy or has in the past.
“I’m fine, Jase. You can go.”
I look up from Meadow, when his footsteps enter the room. “She said you can go, Jase. She’s perfectly fine in my hands. She hasn’t complained yet.”
This pretty boy is the complete opposite of me: dark hair, dark eyes, no facial hair or tattoos from what I can see at least.
He might’ve been able to show her a good time in the past, but that was before I came along.
He flexes his jaw as he looks us over, looking heated. My arm is still around her waist, and she hasn’t made a move to change that. “I’ll be right outside if you need me.”
Meadow nods and lets out a frustrated breath. “I said . . . I’m fine. You can go.”
Jase sizes me up one more time, before he finally turns for the door and disappears.
“Sorry about that. He’s just . . .”
“Someone that wants you as badly as I do.” I release my hold on her and walk toward the door. I stop and look back at her, once I reach the door. “Looks like I’ll need to step my game up. See you soon, babe.” I wink and then walk off, looking Jase over as I pass him in the hall.
He might think he has a chance at this point, but when I want something, I give it my all. And right now, I’m thinking what I want is Meadow.
