Strictly Taboo(136)

By:Lisa Cartwright

“Mmm!” The highlander hummed with pleasure as he pushed forward and his big cock released a spray of his hot seed inside her. Isobel marveled at the sensation of feeling him fill her. The spray came again and again until the highlander collapsed on top of her. The weight of his naked body pressed firmly in top of Isobel and she smiled in the darkness at the feeling of being safe. She couldn't explain why, but the sensation of his hot naked body on hers, despite his highlander heritage, gave her security. She listened to his heavy breathing in the darkness, his spent cock still deep inside her.

“Thank you.” She whispered in to his ear. He laughed breathlessly.

“What're ye thankin’ me for?” He asked, lifting his head to look at her.

“For giving me something that no man ever has. For showing me pleasure…for keeping me safe…” She said. The highlander slid his cock from inside her and slid off to her side. For minutes there was silence as he watched Isobel watching him.

“Lassie,” he said, “I'm a highlander. There is nothin’ about the highlander life that is safe. Don't ye go getting’ any ideas about what I am and what I'm not.” Isobel felt the sting of his words and tried hard to squash the tears that were already brimming in her eyes.

“But you…” She stopped short. There was no way for her to finish that sentence without sounding needy. If there was one thing she was not, Isobel McCullogh was not, it was needy.

“Lassie, I came here to scout out this town of yours. I came to report back to my clan the worthiness of pillaging…that's all.” He said. Isobel said nothing, turning her eyes up to the ceiling to stop her tears from falling.

“You can't tell me that this didn't make you feel anything…” Isobel said. The highlander sighed.

“Aye, I felt somethin’ alright, but it's nothin’ but the release of my seed.” He said. Isobel could barely contain the betrayal and felt.

“It was more than that.” She said. “The way you touched me, the way we kissed…that's more than…that's something!” She whispered. The highlander took a stuttering breath is this time as though he was trying to suppress his own emotion. As though he were trying to hide something.

“Whether there was somethin’ more or not, there is no future for a girl like you with a highlander.” He said firmly.

“Then you stay here. You stay with me. We can have a good life, a home of our own, a family.” She said almost inaudibly.

“Oh lassie, that's no life for a highlander. I need to be with my clan. I need to move, to fight, to be free to roam the blessed country.” He said. “And that…” He reached out and found her cheek with his fingers, brushing it softly. “That's no life for a girl like you.”

“Don't I get to say what is best for me?” Isobel asked, suddenly embarrassed by her nakedness. She pulled at her blankets, covering herself as best she could.

“Not this time.” The highlander said. “You will find yer happiness lassie, just not with a man like me.” He leaned over and kissed her cheek softly before sitting up and crawling over Isobel to get himself dressed. Isobel watched his silhouette in the darkness, wanting to say something, but not sure what. She wanted him to stay.

Chapter 7

Isobel didn't sleep a wink after watching the highlander slip back out of her bedroom window. By the time she was supposed to get up for work, her eyes were heavy and she felt chilled to the bone. As she wrapped her blankets around her she contemplated not showing up to work at all. The truth of the matter was, however, that they needed the money. Besides that, without work to occupy her mind, she knew that she'd simply lie there all day thinking of him.

“Hello there, Lass!” Duncan greeted Isobel a little too cheerfully as she walked in through the door of the Highlander Arms. He knew as well as she did that something was going on, although for Duncan that something was a potential highlander attack. Isobel doubted that she would see a highlander ever again. After last night, she certainly didn't believe that they would attack Dunn Hill. He couldn't possibly be so cruel as to take her innocence and leave her AND attack her town, could he?

“Hello Duncan.” Isobel murmured as she slipped in to the kitchen hoping to be left alone.

“Did ye tell yer mam and da?” Duncan followed her in to the kitchen.

“Hmm?” She asked.

“About the letter from Willie?” He clarified.

“Yes.” Isobel said. Duncan frowned.

“Lass?” He tilted his head slightly. “Ye look as though you've been dragged backwards through a bush, wha’s the matter?” Isobel shook her head.
